I recently found this on FB. Stored inside 15 years, driven occasionally. The only rust I can find in in the spare tire well. It's scaley but not through the metal.

Welcome to the Asylum.  Nice little Euro car, just needs some love.  I hope you consider replacing the velours seats.  I am currently in process doing so and the velours are quickly disappearing probably forever.  I have had to resort to purchasing brasil color and am soon to be dyeing it anthracite.

Nice ride!  Welcome aboard!  And glad to see it's red to boot (my 280SE is Brilliant Red so I'm biased...).  I rarely go for red but the W116 looks terrific in red IMHO.  Enjoy the ride!

I'm surprised Rumb is anti velour.  Seems on BAT, etc everyone always seems to like the velour.  I guess I'd try to stay stock if restoring.

warm welcome and enjoy the time to renew the car. Substance looks really promising and red is anyway a nice color for a W116.
happy having finally a 6.9 # 7271 in my garage, ...so nice to cruise!

Huh? I love velours and hoped he replaced his with new velours. I think you misinterpreted my sentence.   8)

That makes more sense Rumb.  By replacing I thought you meant find another options, you meant restore, etc.

The car is beautiful. I hope it gets restored and the red velvet color will be quite suitable.
