I think it was Oscar that mentioned that only one of these was sold in Australia RHD

spotted this one

Remember this entire car was for sale a few months ago, looks like the seller is parting it out

Did you spot this one in the flesh so to speak Des?

Nice work!  I like the colour combo.  Can I get a comment on the wheels  ::)  They look like early Monaro or charger wheels don't they?
I don't like 'em.  Andrew280sel would be happy with those pinstripes.  They suit it IMO, just don't like the wheels.

As far as saying only one RHD 350sel being sold in Aus, I'm gonna pass the buck and say someone else said it.  When it came up previously, I remember posting a pic of a blue one that together with a 280se was being sold in Canberra.  Maybe I said I've only seen one for sale previously but I'm sure a couple of others said they knew of one or two more.  That's right, I remember there was a guy on the MBCNSW forum named haggard or something similar.  He had a 350sel too.

Both the 280se and 350sel for only $2-3k, I still see the thumbnail pics in my merc folder and wish I went for them. :'(

Hey and regarding that 350sel on ebay, where was it for sale beforehand?  It looks familiar but I can't remember where it came up.
FWIW, look at the car.  This is that Canberra sale I was talking about.  350sel or not, I love that colour combo too

1973 350SE, my first & fave

mate yeah that 350SEL on ebay was a few months ago, was about $500, it was a UK import, had miles and k's on the speedometer, was very very rusted, as can even be seen on the picture of the boot badge.

I know these cars are rare, rarer than a 6.9, but in my books not even half as desirable

gregdeklerk

There is a tired one in Cape Town, I see from time to time!!

116Benz

I think the parts one thats on ebay was a silver green one with a brown drivers door and missing indicator units, he also had a white 280S on ebay as well..both were full cars but really really rusty. That cypress green 350SEL looks really really good apart from the wheels..

Des

I would bet that they wheels are actually ford wheels and incorrectly fitted to this car.
Just look like 1970's cheesy wheels people had on their cars here back then.

johnnyw116

it looks a bit like wolfrace wheels  :)

If it's a 350SEL, then I doubt that it is a UK car.

1) UK displays speedo's in MPH
2) UK never had 350SEL's only 350SE's and 450SEL's.

It looks pretty nice, I love the fact that it's manual.

All the best

Here is a pic of my 116 280SE's speedo - original AFAIK; the car was sold new in London. The odo and tripmeter are in miles.

Very much so!  ;D  ;)

If that car was in Tassie, I'm astounded. That's so rare...
'79 280SEL- 560,000 Kms
'73 350SE- getting an AMG facelift
'79 450SEL 6.9

We did get 350SELs. I know of one in London (anyone remember Pal who posts in here occasionally ?)

Our speedos have mph and kph.
1978 450SEL 6.9 - GONE!

1979 450SEL - GONE!
