Hi what kind of light bulbs is needed for the w116 interior? (Not cluster lights)

Assuming you're referring to the roof lights and glove box light....Festoon bulbs.  5 watt only.  Be sure to buy the correct length, as there are different lengths for the 5w festoon bulbs.  These are usually available at local car parts stores.

Hi, the lights.I was referring to were the tiny light Bulbs behind the air conditioner switch and the headlight switch.

The bulbs that light up the climate control are Mercedes part number 072601-012230.  They're a T5 type bulb with a 1.2 watt rating. 

The bezel behind the headlight switch doesn't light up on a W116.  Only the orange or green dot in the center of the headlight switch knob lights up when the rear fog lamp is on (by pulling the knob out, or rearward, two clicks).  This bulb is also a T5 type bulb, but is rated at 0.4 watts.  If you use a 1.2 watt it'll melt the plastic knob when on for long periods of time.  This bulb is Mercedes part number 000000-001061.  Bear in mind that a lot of places will list it as a 0.5 watt bulb, which is fine to use, as well.  It just became easier to say "half a watt" rather than "four tenths of a watt, etc.
