To the brains trust. Is there an easy way to remove the door strap without taking of the door panel?

If the door check has to be removed for replacement, then the door panel must come off. But for replacing the door seals, just disconnect the strap from the "A" and "B" pillars. No need to removed them from the door. Be sure you have the correct glue for the areas of the door seal that are glued on. Far too any people replace door seals and don't reglue the area that has to be glued. Also, be sure you have all new plastic clips for the front and rear doors that hold the seal in. Old ones cannot be reused, and if they are, they pop out in short order.
Thank you. Door checks is fine so will just remove from the pillars. Also, I have new clips and on your advise will glue in the spots needed. I love this forum.

The front door clips and rear door clips are different. The front door clips are part number 000-987-10-15 (12 total needed), and the rear door clips are part number 001-988-24-78 (total of 10 needed). I do not recommend buying aftermarket clips.....they pop out. Considering how inexpensive they are from Mercedes there is no reason not to buy them from Mercedes.
The Mercedes part number for the glue/contact cement needed is 000-989-92-71.
