Seeping 6.9 oil lines

Several years back I rebuilt my oil lines using the original fittings but new hoses.  I went to a lot of trouble at the time to find the right hoses.  I did the same with suspension hoses and no problem.  In the case of the oil hoses, however, a little seepage developed.  Not a lot, but enough to annoyingly drip a little.  So, given that the hoses are otherwise fine and relatively new, I'm considering a sort of repair the next time the car is on a lift. I realize that this a shortcut and probably a bad idea.  Nevertheless, here's the thought:

> remove hoses and disassemble per pic
> firmly wrap outside end of hose with teflon tape, say 0.5 mm thick.
Then screw the ferrule (left thing) back onto the hose.
> do likewise on the barb (middle thing) and rescrew back onto the hose.

The hose will probably have experienced some compression set.  The coarse threading inside the ferrule effectively creates threads on the outside of the hose, but I'm not sure why it would be a problem.

Any thoughts on this?  If it's totally stupid don't hesitate to say so.  I need to hear that from time to time.   :P   Thanks and cheers,

Where is the seepage from, the fitting/connection or the hose itself?  I would think that seepage from the hose would be exceedingly rare.

From the fittings.  It's as if the hose wall thickness is a tiny, tiny bit small to get enough compression against the rubber.  But it was the highest quality replacement I could find.  And I measured but properly measuring old hoses is usually all but impossible cause of swelling, compression, etc etc.
