We probably need a little more information.

Does it idle properly when the motor is very hot?

Probably one or both of: leaking injectors and/ or leaking (thing next to the fuel pump that i cant think of the name of even though i almost incinerated myself in the process of replacing??? some one help me out here)

Vapour lock? U.S spec M117's often had that problem, it's been a long time since I have heard of this happening, but it sounds like the problem.

you can force up the fuel pressure in spite of a bad accumulator or leaky injectors, by putting the knob in gear (auto only) and holding the ignition switch in the start position. You'll hear the fuel pump running and after a while, all the vapourised fuel bubbles coming to the surface of the tank. Once the system is charged with liquid and no vapour, IE, when the bubbles stop, it will start instantly when returned to the park position and started as per normal.
