Front struts

Hello,

The front struts of my 6.9 are working correctly, no leaks, but without the rubber protection (look at the picture, I don't know its correct name in English). I assume the rubber protection can't be sold apart the struts, and the struts are very expensive. My question is: is there an adequate solution?

Thanks in advance!

The rubber boot is available as a separate part - 116 328 02 92 - about $25.00 each. Just a pain to install.

Thank you Craig!
Please, do you know the part number of the rear rubber boot?

Regards.

CraigS

The front don't have them. Maybe you have rear struts on the front. Can you read a part number off them ?

I believe that picture is a clip of one of my pictures (no problem), but I assure you it shows a rear strut.

I thought it was a bit strange, but I'm sure he knows the front of the car to the back !

Thanks Craig - that is one of the nicest pictures I've seen of the 6.9 arrangement.

What is actually the function of the 5th sphere?

I believe it acts as a "control" for the other 4, but am willing to be corrected by more knowledgable folk.

Holiday was great. Corsica was so mucg better than Sardinia - sorry to any Italians on the board ! Going back to Germany in October for Veterama in Mannheim.

The $25 was US, but that probably sounds about right for a local price - about 2 - 3 times the US prices !

Oh, I need to post some explanation:

As you can note, my English is a pain  :'(  So I used part of s class picture just to better illustrate what I intended do tell, the rubber boot. I was not concerned if that picture showed the front or the rear strut. Sorry for that!

My mechanic said that the front strut was without the rubber boot. As I learned here, the front struts don't have rubber boot. May be I have to change the mechanic... By the way, if the front struts don't have the rubber boot, are they not protected from dirt?

Thanks again!

Thanks a lot, Styria!
