116's on BAT lately

Looks like it's raining 116's on Bring a Trailer lately but they are hammering for pretty low $'s.  Hmmm...I guess it's good that folks are getting into them but likely they are just looking for a quick flip.
Until they realize restoring a 116 is for the craziest of Benz fanatics only

While there are many that sold for 7-11K range, it does look like quality sells much better.  I occasionally stumble across European sites with 6.9's in the $75K range. Still, it is true that restoration costs can be higher than value.

By lineage our cars appear to be fairly inline with values.  Most 450's or 6.9's are in reality condition #3 or 3+.

Really depends on condition, preparation, and seller attentiveness. Several nice, low mileage SDs have hammered well into the stratosphere recently ($85K & $74K US  )

I really had my eye on that Cypress Green 450SEL that didn't hit reserve last week, but the seller didn't provide decent answers to any of my questions and there were just too many unknowns about its condition, mileage, and federalization.

With several articles published recently from prominent sources citing the w116's excellence and under-appreciation (e.g., the car that made Mercedes Mercedes), I think the market for good cars is there. Sellers have certainly noticed that attention though, and it's attracting a broader spectrum of listings, some of which are inevitably "hammering for pretty low $'s".

I'm not sure I'd go through the hassle / expense of listing (or buying) a > 200K mile fixer upper on BaT, but others have certainly not been dissuaded!
