Trunk side panel material

An unfortunate incident damaged my left trunk carpet panel on the bottom (don't ask).  The carpet and foam backing are OK but the molded fiberboard got disintegrated.  It seems to be some kind of molded fiberous stuff impregnated with something, almost like tar paper but with a lot more paper and a lot less tar.  Whatever it is, it turns into chewing gum after prolonged exposure to oil. 

Anyway, these pieces aren't easy to find in good condition or shipping is ridiculous so I want to craft a replacement for the damaged area.  Does anybody know quite what the material is?  I've thought about laminating several layers of roofing tar paper, cutting to size and grafting it on to the undamaged part.  Thoughts, better ideas or suggestions?  Thanks and cheers,

Go to an upholstery shop and get some wax board from them it is a sort of dense black or brown cardboard. I found non woven material that is a darn near match to original at oreilly's sold as a roll of matting to catch drips under a car.

sidebar -  I just dont get pinterest at all. What is the benefit of posting a picture of something with zero info on what it is or where to buy it? 



PS all of the above applies to the earlier cars.  The later ones had different molded panels.

My trunks panels were missing when I bought my car in 1994.  I assume Euro cars originally had the same panels?  Guess I should have picked some up back then when their would have been plenty available.

Thank you Robert!  Perfect.  It never occurred to me to even bother searching but I should know better by now.  When you say "upholstery shop," you mean like for furniture?  Or specifically an auto upholsterer? 

As for Pinterest, completely agree.  It's even worse than the no-information FB sale offers on the various MB groups.  Cheers,
