16" wheels?

6 years ago (?) I upgraded to 15" wheels because of the well know lack of suitable 14" tires.  My Pirelli P600's are now bald and I find myself back in the same situation again.  The choice seems to be largely BFG muscle car tires, US$500+ Michelins or unknown Korean/Chinese stuff I never heard of.

This raises the question of going up to 16" wheels.  It seems like there are decent bundt lookalikes out there.  Has anybody done this?  The trouble here, I guess, is that this is pushing tire sizes we're moving out of the sedan/comfort realm into low profile sportier stuff.  Any thoughts or experiences?  Thanks,
-Dave

My w126 I found the newer profile, directional tires did not react well to the suspension. Reg tires drove much better.

Thanks Robert, exactly the kind of info I was looking for.  So the 15" search continues.  BTW, got my car back from the paint place.  It looks terrific!  Cheers,

And to finally close this issue I decided on 215/60-15 Vredestein Sprints.  They're 94W rated, reasonably priced (??) and almost exactly the same diameter as the OE 205/70-14's. I'll report on how they feel in due coarse.....    Cheers,

just a quick add: upgraded to 16" Bundt wheels from Maxilite for my 6.9. Front 7J with 205/55/16 and rear 8J 225/50/16. Tyres: Michelin Primacy. Drives very good, no issues.
happy having finally a 6.9 # 7271 in my garage, ...so nice to cruise!
