Cocaine cowboys and 6.9's
« on: 03 July 2009, 12:43 PM »

there is a documentary out called the cocaine cowboys, about the guys who were the first sellers of cocaine in florida. they wax lyrical about the merc 6.9s and how they bought them . its a small part of the doccie, but its a documentary that you have to see if you havent already.
it will mess your mind up. these guys talk about walking into the showroom  and saying they want another 6.9 and the sales man asks what colour, he says, who cares, just deliver it.

apparently it was thanks to these "salesmen" that the dealerships made massive profits. they actually interviewed the original dealers in the drugs. makes for fascinating viewing.

i have just the one documentary. and its long, almost 2 hours, so maybe its the 2 features in one. So its in the first one.
i cant get over these guys. the one drug dealer that was interviewed, says the one day he and his girlfriend has an argument,so they got in a merc each and has a crash and bang show with each other in the driveway and then both cars had to flatbedded out as they were totalled.
you want to know why they dug holes in the garden and buried a million buck a hole.its in the movie.
they just had so much they didnt know what to do with the cash

Its contained in part 4 which you can find on youtube here: Link

Not much of a mention, just about the idiocy of how Roberts and his girlfriend had a quarrel and decided to settle it by running an SL into a W123 or another SL (the pictures don't explain the story too well) and then rocking back up to the MB dealer to buy a 6.9 and a W123 wagon.

I.

eh, who says crime doesn't pay. Cheesy  Man that Griselda is one crazy lady..... she still alive? Undecided

Thanks for bringing this doco up kolin and thanks for the link 13B.  I haven't heard of these players before. I just watched all 14parts and all the deleted scenes. .  Haven't got a library full of books or anything but  I'm fascinated by mob stories and organised crime.  I'm just amazed how these networks startup in the first place and flourish for so long without being shutdown, not to mention the trust involved.  There always seems to be one mad moment or slip up though that brings these things crashing down.

But what about the money!! It's impossible to think in volumes the way they had to and the logistics required to deal with stashing and laundering it.  Those guys that got 10-12 yrs, surely they must have had a spare garbage bag or two of $100 dollar bills hidden.  I did like how Jon talked about buyinig "not just any mercedes, a 6.9"  Something like that.  He knew what was what.

Cheesy I know what you mean, there seems to be a lack of support.

Scarface makes more sense after Cocaine Cowboys, with a bit more info on the boatlift of Cuban refugees whihch prompted me to google and wiki it a bit further.  It seems the perception, including mine, that a large number of the immigrants were criminals is wrong and of the small percentage that were, many weren't granted US citizenship.

Scarface - did you see deleted part 14 where Rivi goes to watch the movie then at a nightclub finds his own Michelle Pfeifer by using Pacino's lines.
