Yup silicone spray is the bomb.  I use cheapo WD40 silicone spray and it works great.  Also a big fan of silicone lubes for heavier applications.  Love Permatex brand. Their stuff is top notch.

Ticket closed.  Silicone spray worked wonders.  I need to overcome my aversion to sprays.  Cheers,

Front right door. I replaced some chrome trim and the "brush" on outer side of the window.  The old one was cracked and collapsed.  Now, of course, the added friction has slowed the window significantly and it won't close completely.  It stalls at about the last 4cm. It's not clear that there's some adjustment, but someone may know better?  Try silicone on the window? Other thoughts?  Thanks and cheers,

Edit: there is a small amount of wiggle of the window in it's track.   I never bothered to try to get it adjusted perfectly.  Might doing so reduce friction?

That is indeed a bizarre one and as noted, just a 450sel by the firewall number.  I would think it's unlikely it was stamped incorrectly as not just the model is wrong, but the production number.  I would also think it's unlikely someone swapped the firewall part.  BUT, to install full hydro and the 6.9 engine in a standard 116 would be a frightening task.  Overall thinks look quite close, but as noted, that hydro lever in the cabin is definitely well off position.  Very strange and would be interesting to know more.  It's hard to be definitive with a few pictures only.  Good luck with your search

One of the greatest oddies I have seen... As previous posts have mentioned, its wild to me that it would ever been worthwhile to take on this level of retrofit, even the burlwood (which is probably the least complicated part)

I can totally relate to the concersn of the OP.  My doors sounded a bit clanky. Too much treble if you will.  I thought it was the worn our little white nylon/plastic on the lock mechanism worn out, however, having just got my car back from the body shop and replaced all the door rubber seals with oem german replacement rubber the doors once again sound like I believe they should. Much more of a thud.  No more of that tin-ny sound.
