That is quite amazing indeed,

I like the fact that when you search the "Mechanicals" section, what you want is usually there.

Stats are misleading.
I never shut down my laptop and I leave it on for days with some pages open inclusive of the org (yes, you guessed it right: I run Linux, not Windows ;))

As someone who just observed this site for long but only recently joined actively and someone who visited nearly every www 70's Mercedes forum in more than just English language, I can safely conclude that w116.org does have moderate activity on topic (far from dead, like most others) and, most important, majority of topics are not on three least helpful subjects: where to get common parts - again and again, how to pimp and how its pimped, what radio/speakers/amp/woofer/tweeter etc.

My observations:
Is it helpful? Yes (4/5)
Abundance of spotless knowledge? Better than most (3.5/5)
Provides solution or solution pathway? Yes (5/5)
Are there people wiling to help? Plenty (4/5)
Is it welcoming? Yes (6/5)

For comparison, Benzworld 116 forum is dead past pimping and radioing and it's only clinically alive. BW's 107 forum may provide faster or more in-depth answers for many a problems but given that w116 has significantly smaller members database, it stacks up fairly high.

So... well done.

Djenka I think the cookies expire after 3 or 4 hours mate because i have been pulled away in the middle of a post and had to reload the page to post as it had timed out so its fairly good re times I suspect.

But yeah this place is lively which draws me back and keeps me here plus the sense of community is strong.

All the same for me personally, Tony. Just trying to point towards flaws of any statistics.

More of the time better the forum.

Open community vs. close circle of friends what makes it work.

Active time per day could be more indicative but that brings another problem: does anyone want to know how much time per day they really spend on forums?

I used to run software that tracked my every move for billing purposes and it was amusing to see exactly how much time Id spend and where so sure, Id like to know.

And if I spent too much time then id just disappear for a month or so and hand the file off to a colleague.

I firmly believe that Social networking sites should have built in meters as a check and balance feature.

True and it wasn't a criticism but an observation.
