Perth 2013 German Car Day
« on: 29 August 2013, 03:40 AM »
Hi Perth w116 drivers,

From the WA MB Car Club:

Quote
German Car Day
Aufgepasst! German Car Day is back for 2013, Sunday September 22, 9.00am for a 9.30am departure, from the Queens Gardens car park adjacent to the WACA ground in East Perth.
This event traditionally brings all the German marques together (there are a lot more than just the obvious ones [MB, BMW, VW, Porsche, Audi, Goggomobile]; according to Wikipedia there are a total of 231 current and past German car manufacturers!).

A cruise will take place to a secret destination where the vehicles will then be on display. Your vehicle doesn't have to be in concourse condition, just German. Food will be available at the destination or you can bring along your eats.

I'm, planning on taking my white 6.9 so I hope there are a few more w116's to show the model otherwise it will be a w116 free zone.

Nathan tells me there is a secret w116 drive in November 2013.

I'll happily attend. 8)

My 6.9 is even completely re-assembled now, although some may not like the aftermarket driving lights I've installed!

They will be required for when I drive it across 'Straya. ::)

At least there is no Nardi steering wheel, haha!

You beauty, Hi John and Tim, i will do everything i can to be there, this week is full on but missed last years so will make the best effort  ???

John, are you still in the York region? if so PM your Mobile and can swing through on the way through (will confirm i can make it asap). Good to hear Nathan is working on a W116.org meet, they kick arse  :)

PS Tim, i found your ring spanner in my garage (has your name scribed on it, damn you! it came in handy a few times ;D) check your W126 as i have 2 rear brake lines (female to female) i incorrectly ordered so if they fit your car they are yours.

This weekend will be a very tight schedule, as I will be servicing the 190E. I shall endevour to attend however. Not sure about the weather though, with continuous cold fronts. When will it stop?

How bad is the weather? On the Mornington Peninsula presently and it can sure as hell rain here! Had to jump into a swimming pool to keep dry! :/

Hope the numbers are better than last year for Merc attendance from reports, not a great fan of collective drive through, that said, will do my best to be there and fly the W116 flag  8)

It has been raining pretty much constantly for "I don't know how long". I have been told it will continue into the weekend.

Collective drive = BMW and Porsche enthusiasts driving like they're on a race track, then getting into the cocaine at the event and bragging about their cars haha. ::)

They do not have the elegance of a S Class those types unless in a 7 Series Li :) I do enjoy watching the BMWs and Porches racing on GT3 racing but not inbetween our stately vehicles, a most common activity I must say old chap (long puff on tobacco pipe, puff, puff, puff) :D

Hi John, confirmed, going on the Sunday!

Well,

I didn't make it as there was no time to prep the car, and the weather was questionable at best.

Instead, I removed a transmission from my spare 560 engine and threw out a tub full of brake calipers.

I'm interested in hearing how it went though!  8)

The bundts are going next if nobody wants them...

Hi TJ, apologies for late reply :/ I as well did not get there due to foul weather crippling mums house in Rockingham so stuck with house restoration project, bugger :(

Therefore.... 'Help us Obi Wan Nathan, you are our only hope... For a W116 meet!' So I hope no Death Star turns up AKA Perth foul weather!

Hi,

Well I did make it to the event (a drive to Yanchep) but took an E220, although most of the rain had passed by start of the drive.

I did take my white 6.9 to the MBCCWA display in Perth on Sunday Oct 27 and was the only w116 around.
