Northam WA German car day 2011

Seeing as I'll be in the 190E, does that mean I'll have to be in the lead? ;D

9am... That mean's I'll have to get up at the crack of dawn, something that only happens when there is a blue moon, but I reckon I'll be able to make an exception.

TJ, if you get to Mundaring DOME by 9am i will buy you a long macchiato to get you over the hump  :)

On another sideline i could be in a position to display my cable operated heater system using established dash controls pending some parts on Saturday, watch this space  8)

TJ informs me that his 190 has similar acceleration to a 6.9*
Perhaps a drag race is in order.

*may not of actually happend

TJ 450

Maybe not like a 6.9, but it pulls pretty hard for a four cylinder. It runs out of breath near the red line though (I've done more than 4000km in it now).

I'm on the third oil change now.

Looking like a dry day tomorrow for a drive to Northam

I hope they are right - only had time to wash the 6.9.

Well the sun shone and I have come home with some sunburn.

Here are a few pics and I am sure Nathan will have the last say later.

Six w116 members in five cars.
From left to right - TJ450's 190E with Major Tom as riding mechanic, Nathan's 6.9. WGB's 6.9, John6007 6.9, Goldacres 450SEL

The W116 "Does my bum look big in this" colection.

John6007's recently acquired 6.9 - low mileage and very tidy body and chrome.

Same car exposed.

Goldacres new big 15 inch feet.

The 15 inch wheels fill the arches considerably more.

Thanks guys for a pleasant way to pass a day.

Was I the only one that felt this way about the live "performers" ?  8)

No, I concur.

What were they thinking?

I did enjoy the day thoroughly though. Plus John's new 6.9 was a big surprise, and I was very impressed with the original engine bay.

Goldacre's 15s look very nice indeed.

I had trouble keeping up with the 116s in the convoy though. 8)

Hi all, certainly was a great day and always good to catch up with the WA W116ers. Johns 6.9 certainly was a surprise and i had the opportunity of visiting Johns huge shed in York and he is up for a get together there with beer and BBQ and you will be impressed to say the least  8) Also that Spencer brook Rd we went down was a delight and looking forward to visiting that old pub doing Sunday roast pretty soon  :P

I am very happy with the 15 inch rims, Bridgestone R30 Turanzas and mirror plate hubcaps but was beaten down by the crew to paint them to match the car and also learnt that a special template exists for painting the hubcaps so if anyone knows of someone with one to loan do let me know otherwise they stay silver shiny.

Thanks for the pics WGB, now trying to find that post about filling in wheel arches...

This event does not replace the normal WA get together so the task is still out there with the following suggestions...

Johns place in York for a day of sun, beer, BBQ and a tour of his interesting establishment  ;)
The Busselton Motor Fest late in the year, all we do is nominate and we get a space to show off our cars amongst those Holden and Fords on steroids

Nice photos Bill
Looking forward to seeing Tim's 6.9 in the lineup next time.
Seeing Bill's & Nathan's dark window 116's makes me think I'll be visiting the tint shop soon.
