Sorry I couldn't be there, looks like some fun was had.  Been in Singapore for the last few weeks, nice and warm, plus lots of food for chinese new year.  Have seen no W116's, one lone 280 SE 3.5 in spectacular condition, that's all. Home around the 25th. of this month.

Perhaps we could have a meeting at the MBCV concour on the 28/2 at Flemington Racecourse?  I've entered the 280 SE so I'll definitely be there.  Failing that, if we wanna kick some w116 tyres, we could have a meeting at my workshop in Richmond the following Saturday or Sunday?  Can fit about 10 cars on site and we could all meet there is you like and tell lies, followed by a 5 minute walk down the street to the local coffee shop?

Thanks Motec, it was bloody ripper!!!  You'll love it.  They haven't lost it at all - and honestly, rock it harder than most bands today.

Missed out on Motorhead, but saw Maiden on the last tour.  Maiden are another band who have maintained their form right through.


All good Carl, would love to see your workshop - though won't be back in melbs for another 2-3months at least probably. 
Sounds like the perfect location for a get together though!!

Well, hope to see some of you Sunday at the concour.  Although I have entered the W116 in the concour, I'll have to withdraw it, just decided to read the regs:

6. After having won its class, a vehicle may only be entered in its class competition again if it satisfies any
of the following: a) travelled 10,000km, b) not entered for the next two MBCV Concours events, or c)
unsuccessfully competed once in the Champion of Champions.

Hmmmm, it hasn't travelled 10,000 kms since 2008, and, 2010 is not two concour events away.  So, I'm madly gonna clean the W126 and enter that, I'll bring the W116 and display it anyway.  Lets hope the weather holds....

thats pretty average isnt it. if your 30 year old car is the best, it shuold be able to compete to be the best - regardless of how many km's its travelled. look forward to seeing the fleet!

You know I actually think it's a good idea.  It stops the same car winning every year and gives others a chance. 

Anyway, I have the 116 ready, it looks lovely, the 126 less so, but its the 126 that's going into the concour.  Hope the rain stays away, at least till Monday!
