Yeah, it was good to catch up.  While the 'Taxi' is advertised on carsales.com, I may yet get to keep it.  Here's some perspective on the jobs yet to be done - none major, all do-able, but there is a lot of 'em:

Supermarket dents pulled
Clean/cut paint
Have another go at removing the rest of the vinyl guard goo (forget what they call it)
Drain and flush cooling system, replace hoses and clamps
Fix stuck heater door flap and recondition heater element at the same time seat, console out!)
Instal period correct Pioneer cassette/AM/FM component system I had it in my '75 Datsun all those years ago, and it is truly a great component system, so I kept it; have new drive belts and all
Fix those leaks in boot wells  - where the hell DO they come from? It may be the rear screen as I once found a little water on the rear floor and NOT in the front
Self-levelling suspension
Reinstate correct ignition coil
Have instruments overhauled (is it that place in Ringwood that does the best job?)
Replace the 'Y' pipe (with many thanks to KOAN!)
There is an idle module or something that also needs to be overhauled/replaced
Central locking (of course)
Clean engine room
Fix trafficator stalk
Fix screen washer (foot button doesn't produce water, but wipers function OK)
Fix oil leaks (har, har: all LOL right now!)
Re-gas aircon
Add iPod interface (there is a nifty bug you can get from JB Hifi for about 80 bucks that does this through an FM frequency)
Remove tow bar and wiring (hate those damn things! - I always camped in a tent, never a van)
Fit vintage mesh headlight protectors I got from Chris - lovely! Might even fit my vintage Lucas 'flamethrower' spots
Instal sheepskins and boot carpet
Fit child seat mount in rear - yes, DB had provision for that way back in 1975; check under the parcel shelf from inside the boot and you will see a knock-out disc the right diameter
Last of all - win Concourse - probably 2014 or 2015!

I have a query that I will copy to the appropriate place - can I retrofit a correct cruise control? - i.e., does the loom support cruise if cruise was not fitted at the factory?  The Taxi is December 1975, a late D-jet (green injectors).

... and here's where you find a pic of the Taxi in Gallery: http://gallery.w116.org/v/show_room/IMG_1047webcopy2.jpg/

Great to see you again, Guys!

Hello team,

I left the picture taking to the others as I attended to my duties as host for the afternoon.

I'm pretty sure Carl will have some good ones.

Some pics:

The meeting in Coburg for coffee before departure.  Powerglide in the yellow beast and Koan in the beautiful blue 6.9.  Luckily, Bunnings were having a pot sale, so we all had a chuff before departure!

Left to right; Koan, Powerglide and Oversize:

The yellow beast, it's a lovely car:

From Coburg we travelled to the Ballarine Peninsula where we met with Robertd.  His estate is a W116 oasis :)  Powerglide had to head home for a family function so Koan, Oversize and myself continued.

Hilarious sight in Robertd's driveway (carl888, oversize, robertd and koan)

After a lot of shit was spoken, it was time to lunch, in the shed!

Joy of joys, more stuff to see in the shed!

OMG, another garage, more cars!

Thanks so much Rob for a fabulous day, we had a really good time!

Until next time.

Good to have some pics to remember the occasion, I had a great time out from the usual workday.
Sorry Nathan couldn't make it, hopefully next time

Never has so much been spoken by so few about not much at all, but it was a bit of fun. Looking forward to the next meet, maybe at Carl's factory?

I'd definitely like to take the opportunity to thank Carl for organizing the event and Rob for being such a gracious host!  It was definitely lots of fun and I'm sure we could've yacked until the early hours if we didn't have other commitments!

Next time lets make it even bigger and hopefully by then I'll be taking my Red Bull as transport!

Great pics, Carl!  Sorry to miss the run - next time, hopefully.  Even Chris or that guy at Anna Bay don't have that many 6.9s in one place: with Oversize, I think the market can be considered cornered. Although, if a d-jet 350 SE manual turns up, I think it might surprise, given the startling performance of my K-jet (Euro) auto - now residing in its new home up on the central coast. 280SE can't compete, but it's still no slouch, and a good one (like mine) is a real joy.  One of the joys is if you fix something, it seems to stay fixed. It's also a lot more agile, due to less weight over the front wheels.  But all this notwithstanding, there is no dispute about the 6.9 being the duck's guts.

PG.
