 :(

I'm so sorry fellas.  I slept in.  I was supposed to leave at 5:00.  I was up at 7:30 but by the time I got my stuff together, 8:30 I could have left.  Had a chat with my wife and decided to stay.  I was too tired to make the trip by myself and the rest of the clan is sick of travelling lately.  It's a minimum 5.5hr trip, I would've been lucky to get there by 2:00pm and the thing finishes at 3:00pm, plus I just didn't feel up to it.  I think I prematurely peaked last night whilst throwing on a wax coat.

I'm sure you guys will understand.

Have a great day.   ;)  Lot's of pics please 8)

BIG450's car was there and I took a picture but it was with an SLR film camera so until I set the darkroom up I won't have it.  I'm sure he will post some pictures shortly...

While I wasn't exactly an entrant in the concourse, I did win the people's award for most inventive exhaust system... :)

Hi all in W116 land,

Well the concours has been and gone and a bad back from renovating the house meant I arrived late and left early. Whilst waiting for 13B shot of my car, here is the one the club took as I was driving in.

13B, that exhaust sounded great, sounds similar to Craig Tucker's 6.3.

Carl Jones's 280 SE looked fantastic in person, absolute minter and you can see the amount of work and passion that went into it. I am sure it won, but I left too early to find out.

It was great to chat with 13B, Carl and RobertD about all things W116 and will definitely have to get some sort of Victorian W116 drive day organized.

Here are some more pics of the day.

That coupe in the last photos had a 6.3 motor put into it. Very Nice  ;D

Stunning, thanks for the pics fellas.  8)

How about that black Grosser, but the 220se is amazing.  MB should've offerred these with a larger V8 from the get go.

Hi Guys,
I stayed to the end, Carl's 280SE won outright concourse in its class.
13B's sports exhaust is awesome, I gotta get me one of those!
A great day was had by all and I'm sure some will go home with some SUN GLOW especially those
that drove roadsters.
Hey BIG450 lets organise this 116 rally?
Regards Robert

Had a great day today, lots of sun (A bit too much for me ;) and a great turn out of cars, better than last year, but a very poor showing of W123's, did anyone notice that?  Had I known, I would have made a better effort to present the W123 TD.  Nice to chat with 13b, RobertD, Rob's friend Dave and big450. Us W116's need to stick together, being somewhat under represented IMO.

Sorry you couldn't make it Oscar, maybe that's given you an excuse to come to a Vic 116 gathering that robertD was talking about, more about that later I suspect!

Here are some pics of the day:

Carl.

Well congrats Carl 8)  Definitely, if a Vic 116 GTG happens, I'll do my darndest to get there.  I wont say promise though.  I can't keep those.   ::)

So how many w116's were there?  I think I counted 6.

BIG 450

My count was 12 W116. 4 of those were 6.9s. I know of 4 other 6.9's that weren't there.

There was more W126's I have seen in a while and more W140's than in previous years. I think that there is a changing of the guard within the club as a lot of young people had 126's coupe and sedans alike.

Anyway, with regards to the Vic W116 GTG, I am open for suggestions as I can get members from the MBCV along as well. I was planning a drive through the Victorian Alpine Region with stops along the way or a bit of  driving tour around Rutherglen and drop into the little Mercedes Dealership there which is where my 6.9 came from. Perhaps even taking in some of the bay views down on the Bellarine Peninsula would be nice also. I am sure we can throw a few ideas around and come up with a plan for a great day.

Thanks Oscar,

I spoke to RobertD today.  How about in the next month we head down to Roberts for the afternoon on a Sunday?  We can meet in Melbourne on Sunday morning, maybe have a breakfast somewhere then off to the Bellarine Peninsula to visit Robert and his W116's.

Regards,

Carl.

Now if you guys are doing that, I may be able to join in, as I'll be in Melbourne for the first week of April for #1 son's wedding.  It would be good to catch up face to face, 116 to 116.   ;D

Quote from: Carl Jones on 10 March 2008, 04:44 AMShall we discuss some dates?

I expect - contingencies aside - to be traveling down on the 27/28th.  My son's wedding is on the 30th (in Marysville) so I'll be back in Melbourne from 31 March for anywhere between one and two weeks.

That's about as definite as it gets for me just yet.  Once I'm in Melbourne after the wedding, my time is my own - and of course I'll have my own wheels.

OBH, I'm in WA for the first week of April, I'll start a separate thread for a Melbourne GTG.
