How to posts photos 101

Go to the 'Org', and log-in

Once logged-in, then click on the 'Gallery' tab

From the gallery there are four sub-sections you can choose to store your photos in: 'Show Room', 'Garage', 'Test Drive' and 'Fun'.  Choose the most appropriate to your topic/photo.

Click on the relevant picture, and you will get to this next screen.  From here, click on the sidebar [ I⇨] which is on the top left hand side.  Immediately a drop-down-box appears.  Click on the 'Add Album' tab.

Complete the information screen as appropriate, once finished, click the create button

You can now manipulate the album behaviours, but generally speaking, you can just click accept, as the default settings are the most commonly used

Congratulations, you have just created your own photo album!
   ;D
Now you need to up-load your photos into the album.  Have your photo/s ready.  You can either keep them on your desktop, or in a folder on your desktop.

Image on desktop

Photos in a folder on your desktop

Ensure that the images are of a suitable size

Assess the image size

Adjust the size if you need to.  60 to 700 KB is plenty.  You can adjust on your previewer something like this:

Go back to the gallery section, and find your album

Click on the drop-down-box, and then select the 'edit album' tab

Now you need to add your photo.  To do this, click the 'Add items' button from the 'Options' menu

The page should now show an option to 'choose file'

If your image is on the desktop, look for it here

If your image is stored in a 'photo folder' then just search for that folder

Once you have found the folder, then locate the picture

You can then add a caption to the picture, a basic description

Now you may upload another picture in the second 'open box', and if you click on the 'More Upload Boxes" it is possible to add more photos bearing in mind that there is a total size limit.  Once you have done, then click the 'Add Items' button.  You should get a confirmation screen.  If you do not get a confirmation screen, then your items are not saved, and this is usually because your photo is too large, or you have tried to upload too many photos

You have just reached the second milestone, congratulations!
  ;D
Now it's time to link your photos to your posting/thread.
Find your album in the gallery section

Click on it to open your album 'pages'.  If you only have one picture, this is what you will see

If you have a many photos, you will see this

If you have lots and lots of photos, you will have many pages, and you will need to search for the page

Once you have found your photo, then you can click on the 'item actions' button, and a dropdown menu appears.  Select 'Get item URL's'

Now, copy and paste the relevant link into your posting/thread

YOU'RE DONE!

I find it easier to open two 'Org' windows.  I open the first window, and sign in.  I then get to the relevant section in the org where I want to tell people about my happenings or I want to comment on others' happenings.  I then open a second window, and this time, I go to the 'Gallery' section, not the 'Forum'.  I can now manipulate the 'Forum' section and the 'Gallery' sections simultaneously.

It's messy, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes easier.
Hope this helps, and post pictures of those 116's!

Tinfoil armadillo helmet optional BTW and if anyone feels Gavin's screen looks unlike their screen it is because Gavin is using an Apple product.

Tinfoil helmet indeed!  OMG

That is the most off-putting, intimidating and needlessly complicated process known to mankind.

Here's how to post photos 102

1.  Find the photo you want using your own personal online album or with a google internet search.

2.  Click the little mona lisa icon to create the [..pic..] [../pic..] brackets in your post.

3.  Copy and paste the picture's URL to land in between the pic /pic brackets

4.  Done.  Have a beer.

How to post Pictures 103

Go to http://www.photobucket.com/

Open a free account.

upload the pictures you wish to share.

Once uploaded you will have 2 or 3 links under those pictures when viewed in your photobucket account.

The link you want to copy is the one with [IMG and the beginning and end (IMG Link)

Then paste this link into the body of your post (The bit where you normally type your comments into) on 90% of forums on the net, add your text or comments and even post more [IMG links although I limit myself to 3 or 4 links per post.

Then post your comment and picture and like magic your IMG link becomes a picture.

This method has a few added bonuses in as much as your pictures are loaded directly from photobucket to the viewers Browser and this can save a forum a lot of money on internet usage because it is not sent from the forum itself.

this also creates a backup of sorts so if you should happen to crash your computer you have a copy of pictures on the net you can retrieve with ease (Now referred to as Cloud technology and storage).

And it also allows the forum to load faster because the bandwidth isn't clogged with image data fighting to broadcast from the forum server on popular or busy threads ala not keeping all your eggs in one basket.

Also you may chose to make your photobucket albums private so your pics only show when you post a link ([IMG or other) and if you have an Android phone the photobucket app (Free) will load the pics to your account as well as saving a copy on your phone and considering most car pics are taken on a phone this is a handy app.

Photobucket also provide handy tutorials and I use it to send high resolution pictures via email by posting a http link as text instead of the laborious task of uploading 3 to 15 meg per pic up to the email as an attachment which some email services cant and/or wont allow anyway.

And these links work on all OS platforums from Linux/MacOS/iOS/Windows etc

So...

Join Photobucket.com

Upload pics

Copy and paste [IMG link to forum post with comments

Post comment and VOILA!  (or Wallah) Pic in post with comment plus you can set the size of your pic in Photobucket if you wish.

Just to clarify, the Mona lisa icon only shows when you use reply to a post button or start a thread and is a forum feature.

if you use "Quick reply" as I do (The box at the bottom of the page) you dont have this option and this is where [IMG links are handy.

Copy, Post, have a beer.

Tony, I couldn't agree with you more.  I've been on Photobucket for a long time and think it is great.

Just for kicks I signed onto my photobucket account - ran across this gem:
