I live nearby  ::) so will push my Merc out onto the grass, having a week off to get a heap of things done (and not done :( ) so should be presentable for the event. Corrigin is quite a large regional center, has two supermarkets, an amazing Pub, chemist, two cafes all in a one way main street and then some. The upgrade to the Brookton Hwy is brilliant, wide and straight with some of the realignment (part of the grain freight route upgrades so will encounter some trucks carting grains, for better or for worse). Watch out for Police (Traffic) coming onto and out of Brookton as its only 50kph and multinovas coming through Kelmscott 8)

PS: Its done on the alternative year of the Brookton car show (held every 2 years) and they got 900 people through the gate last time so well attended.

If I had some cash, I'd drive up in the 560!

The 6.9 has a full tank in it though... I'll see if I'm keen for an adventure on the day.

Thanks to Goldacre for another great day! It was great to catch up. Hopefully we'll have another big 116 meet soon.  ;)

I made it there in the 560 (its first long drive of about 450km return), although the plastic bumpers probably turned a few people off, haha.

If I could post some pics I would (I'm not paying to use Imageshack et al).

Hey Tim, good job on the photos  8) was great to catch up and especially to see your W126 560, a great piece of work and your efforts have paid off, for something that sat out in a paddock it comes across pretty well, well done!

Numbers were down on the previous years but the weather was fickle but overall pretty good, there was competition with RaceWars in Wyalkatchem and a couple of other gigs, i had a great time and there were some nice classics there, the Buick club turnout was good, finally got to see what a 455 cubic inch V8 looks like that was not in a truck hauling grains! The LC Torana with the new set of triple carbies looked the business, nice cars overall, would post my pics if i could  :'(

Definitely have to organise a WA W116 meet, the last time we met was December 2012! need to fix that pretty quick.

What sort of fuel economy did you get out of your 560 doing country miles?

Thanks 8) It's been a lot of work, I must say... and there's still a lot to do before it's remotely as good as my 6.9, but it's a fantastic car to cruise around in and absolutely flies only if you want it to.

Yes I heard about the RaceWars event... yes 455 ci isn't small, that's for sure.

Fuel economy seemed pretty good, but without a function odometer I couldn't say exactly. According to distances, I got approximately 300km out of "half a tank". The W126 fuel gauges don't appear to be telling the truth though. I expect it will be better than the 6.9 though, with a far more advanced injection and ignition system and lower rpms at country cruising speeds.

Yep, those fuel gauges are fickle! My brother in law says it's because most people only fill to half a tank to save $$ therefore the lower half of the gauge has worked the hardest, mine is spot on till just below halfway then goes nuts trying to work itself out  ;D

My old 280 had a non functioning odometer, the star shop fixed it, think some cogs went south on it.

Looking forward to a fang in the 560! Always liked those cars, I am actually a bit emerald green paint code 'envious'  ::)

Hope you donated a lower rad hose to that bloke in the servo in Brookton for his 500 SEL project!  ;)
