Title: Badge Order
Post by: Mforcer on 12 March 2007, 05:37 PM
The badge is being made as you read this! :)

The price will be US$35 each for the badge PLUS shipping. I should be able to offer a discount on the shipping for multiple lots.

Pre-order the badge now and pay only $30 ($25 deposit necessary). This offer is too good to be true and never to be repeated!!! :)

ANYONE still interested in buying a badge PM or email me with the quantity you wish to buy.

Martin 1, Greg 2, I PMed 3.  There's a trend starting :D  EDIT; sorry Michel, I just realised I left you out.  There's no trend after all.  ::)

Mforcer,

I wonder whether it may be a good idea perhaps to start a sticky thread about the badge.  Maybe locked to replies but just for you to post ordering info and updates.  We can still banter along on here without relevant info becoming buried.

What do you think?

Keep those PMs and emails coming! We are still short for the order. An email may need to be sent to every registered forum member soon to ensure everyone is made aware of the badge.

Mforcer: what is the total so far? Perhaps you could post the total every few days.

Greg
Title: Re: Grill Badge Order
Post by: Mforcer on 18 March 2007, 05:15 PM
The total so far is just over half the necessary 40 badges minimum order. There are some notable absences with many people still to advise me of their interest.

Perhaps we should cut back on the 3,000 post goal to allow more attention for this worthy cause! :P

wouldn't hurt to email every registered member as many may have missed the thread.

I know I nearly missed it, lots and lots of threads about badges and it all got confusing unless you kept up with every thread and vote.

Title: Re: Grill Badge Order
Post by: Mforcer on 03 April 2007, 09:12 PM
It seems the two lovely ladies have not been enough help to sell more badges. We are still under the minimum order size. Remember, people, that this will be a high quality badge that you will be proud to show on your cars! Keep those orders coming!
Title: Re: Grill Badge Order
Post by: gregdeklerk on 04 April 2007, 12:19 AM
How far are we under the minimum order?
Title: Re: Grill Badge Order
Post by: Mforcer on 04 April 2007, 12:45 AM
We need another 10 orders.

Just as an idea... would people be willing to pay an extra $5 for the badge. In the short term, this would provide enough for the minimum order. In the longer term, this could be used to provide more resources to this site (more online manuals?) or alternatively to a charity (carbon offsets?).

We may even be able to put together a 'supporter package' which will include the badge and a few other little benefits....

Title: Re: Grill Badge Order
Post by: Brian Crump on 05 April 2007, 01:37 AM
I have sent a pm asking for 2. If the price goes up to make it happen, then that's OK too. The badges will be unique and are not expensive. I think nothing of filling the tank at $AUD130 (or so) and going for a drive so the cost of a badge is not signicant in the longer term. Just think how you will stand out at yr local MB Councours with a super-duper-you beaut 116 badge!!!! Go for it!!!
In fact, if it helps I'll take 3 and put one on the English limo (can't mention the brand  ;D).

I think it is an excellent idea to double up on the number of badges we take. BC a grill badge on the English Limo would give it a good dose of classic German culture, but you have to deal with the fact that you might have Charles Rolls and Henry Royce turning in their graves!! ;D
Title: Re: Grill Badge Order
Post by: oscar on 05 April 2007, 09:44 AM
If people are willing to take on an extra badge or two, that would be great!!! You could always sell it off for people wanting one in the future.  I think from looking at the count by posts above, there's only another 6-7 to go maybe.  Had I been a bit more financial, I would've bought the extra 10 or so.  Going from what Brian says, that's just two tanks of fuel.

Even the whole 40 upfront which would eventually sell off, would be around the $1200AUD mark and wouldn't have been out of the question a little while back but I've spent that money since on bits and pieces and crap I don't need. :-\ I'm hopeless with money.

I've been a bit busy at work and haven't followed the prospect up yet.  For the moment, I'll see how the pledges go.

I have updated the first post of this thread with details of everyones orders. At present we have orders for 30 which is enough for me to get production underway :) :) :)

I will PM everyone with payment details and ask that a deposit of 50% be paid.

For anyone selling their car that has also ordered a badge (Hi Des!), you must buy an extra badge for the new owner!

Hi guys,

Must admit I've been preoccupied with other things lately and haven't chased up the badge.  I had a look at Action Badges' website today.  Can they make a 3" badge?  That size isn't listed.  Their lapel pins and medals etc look good.

For Crayford and anyone else, here's what the badge looks like if you missed it

mate the M100 club is a must in my humble opinion, AU membership is currently at $115 per year

--you get a nice mag in the post quarterly
--snazzy little membership card that entitles you to 10% of parts ordered at the classic center , thats a Mercedes club card so you get all the benefits, discounted entry into museums etc...
--although the forum doesn't boast as many posts as we do here, there is still a lot of very knowledgeable people there who more than know their way around a M100 car.

M100 owners need to stick together, we are such a small group of Mercedes owners,

It would go the same here, I don't think it would be unreasonable for Mforcer to charge a membership fee to help cover costs, maybe hold a raffle etc...
Internet forums can easily be taken for granted, but there are real costs associated with running and maintaining them

Just was reviewing this post...

I'd love a badge as w116 is my internet "home"

Re the M-100 group...  the neat thing is not the technically astute 6.9ers - the 600 owners count among their numbers some of the super-rich, and I enjoy just basking in their comments and wallowing in their obvious disregard for even ridiculous expenditures as they pursue hedonistic perfection.

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall a post citing $9000 each for 600-series rear headrest leather covers that used leather that was guaranteed to match the original.  First they clone cows using DNA from your original covers and then raise the calfs using correct vintage methods including barn exposure to correctly dated rebroadcasts of German cold-war and Vietnam era radio broadcasts and correct micropercentages of mild dioxin poisoning...

If I recall these were popular items and considered a bargain to keep the cars original   ;D

It seems the ball is back in my court and I am in contact with the badge maker again. I expect the badges to come to US$30 plus shipping (lower than my original forecast!).

Over the next week, I will be contacting everyone with final purchase details and request payment of a US$25 deposit for the badges. If I don't contact you within the next week, please send me your details!

PayPal will be acceptable as will direct deposit into an Australian bank account for the Australian members.
