Anzac day cruise - Perth (anyone??)
« on: 10 April 2010, 11:25 PM »
Hi all,

I was reading the local rag the other day and noticed that there is a Camaro cruise day and a Ford cruise day planned for this Anzac day??
Why not a Mercedes get together, cruise/BBQ something like that??? all clubs, all models, new faces and new stories and get to see everyones pride and joy???

Anyways probably a million reasons why not but just thought i would throw it out there and see the reaction???

Cheers

I would certainly attend, but it may have to be in the A-Class, as none of the 116s are remotely respectable at this point. There is a slight chance that the windscreen may be fixed by then though. 8)

that may not be such a ridiculous proposition - I've actually started putting my car back together lately.

Today I have even installed then new leather on one front seat base that now makes a rear arm rest and the rear seat base done, After 2 years of collecting dust. Now I just have to do the rest.

I had tried previously to install the leather on a front base in the past but never was able to compress the base enough to fit it on. Now that i weigh 100+ KG it was actually quite easy, but had no tools where they are stored to start the second front seat, so will do some more later.

Good to hear MT - get Tim up to the hills and I'm sure you'd be ready for ANZAC day.

Was the new leather from GAHH?

Cool... BTW, I have an idea for installing the leather on the rear seat base... more on that later.

As a fellow 100+ kg I found sitting on the base (whether backrest or base) is the easiest way to tuck it all in.

Either way it requires quite considerable strength to get the leather "stretched" - but it does slowly work into the correct shape.

What gauge wire did you use as cleats to fasten the retaining wires and the calico "petticoat".

I used what I had but found it a little thick and had to re-do the drivers seat base or else with prolonged use it might have worn a couple of small holes through teh leather.

If there is anything on I'm available.

I am a member of M-B Club WA (and not even remotely upset by them) but will probably not be participating at this stage.

If there is any event happening, I now have a 116 to attend in. Just don't expect anything too flash. ;)
