Yellow sticker :(

Those of you in w.a. will know what im talking about :( I got one on my old dunga of a 280SEL last night driving home. Pulled over for an RBT.

The reasons were
          - oil in engine bay
          - play in the steering box
          - no carpets or door trims (They were at home as i was fixing the electric windows and      cleaning the carpets! )

I did have plans to slowly restore this car to its former glory but unfortunately now it looks like im gonna have to sell/wreck it as i need something i can drive to/from work ! I think they would find too many problems with it if i went over the pits and wouldnt be worth fixing.

I wouldnt be so pissed off if it wasnt for the arrogant cop who pulled me over. Granted my car was yellow sticker material, but i didnt need him to tell me that he 'knew all about mercedes as his wife had one, and mine would easily cost $100,000 to fix), i didnt need him to tell me that i should consider myself lucky as if i was in london i'd have to get my car inspected every year (we're not in london asshole!), and i didnt need him to tell me that if i was in the country i would of been fine.

anyways thats my rant!

geez, sounds like they do a full roadworthy on the side of the road ???

Sounds like he knew what he was talking about.  $100,000 sounds about right ::)

yep, its getting really bad. crime in general is getting outa hand in this state...

what annoys me in 100m down the road in the heart of northbridge, those cops could of been catching real criminals, instead of sitting in a backstreet.

That's not good news, Ryan.

Yes, RBT's seem to double as vehicle inspection points... the bastards. I got pulled over in the 450 and had the full thing, but they didn't find anything to get me for fortunately. Not only that, but I have been randomly pulled over about three times in that car and numerous times in the Volvo, once when I was about to turn into my driveway... they followed me up the street. Do I look like I'm driving stolen cars, or something's not quite the norm?  ::)
I think getting my 6.9 registered in anything but showroom condition is going to be next to impossible due to the arrogance factor.

We all have a fear of the Yellow Sticker.

I don't know if it is still the case but June was the famous month for getting a ticket in the past as Police had to fulfil a quota system of infringements that ended with the end of the financial year on June 30.

The craziest one was being stopped, breathalysed and told that my Rego was out of date.

I asked him (Politely) if he knew what next years stickers looked like as it was a 2 week old brand new Mercedes.

He apologised and waved me on - sometimes it's nice being a smug middle aged member of the establishment.

It also means I wouldn't go to Northbridge at night and only drive older cars (scrupulously clean if possible) during the daytime while my new cars tend to only get washed for Weddings/Funerals/Random acts of madness and when they are serviced.

Ryan,
Buy another registered 116 and swap the rego and the chassis number over.
So easy to do..........No, I've never done it....honest.....true!!!!!!

It wouldn't matter if it was a LWB or SWB or a 280 or a 450 as I don't think they put those details on the rego papers. (Only the engine size) They don't over here in South Aust.
It would be easy to cut the chassis number off the centre of the firewall and swap it.
At least that's what I heard.......But I never told you.........
In fact I'll probably delete this reply in a few days.   ;D

My #1738 is crossed out by the factory. I guess they stamped the wrong number on the firewall - perhaps after a Friday lunch at the pub - and re-stamped it underneath. Where the original number should be, there is a series of XXXXXX's, and the correct number stamped underneath.

Ryan1980, there was a 280SE for 1k in Duncraig listed in the quokka...  8) I had a look at one in Carine a while back, a 280SE... it went well, but the trans had massive 2nd-3rd flair. It may or may not be the same car. There should be heaps for sale...

BTW I overtook a 280SE on the Mitchell Fwy Saturday night in the white 450. Was it you, or some random?
