I just checked with the Danish tax authorities. A 450 SE will be taxed 3-4000 Euros whereas a 6.9 will be taxed 10.000 Euros.
A 280 SE 1000-2000 Euros.
OK THAT'S IT!!! No more Aussie Princesses are to be exported to Denmark until you lot fix your tarrif system!! Where is the free trade?  ;)

Imagine how she was taxed. Without the commonwealth it would have been murder... ;)

For new cars the price from the car company.

For used cars, they've done something really clever. Instead of doing the same as they do for new cars, they've found out that a used cars taxation should be similar to the same cars "value" in Denmark.

I.e. I can buy a used Merc in DK for 100,000 DKR, the same car in German is 15,000 DKR. (not a unrealistic example) Now instead of using a method whereby they tax the 15,000 by 200% giving a total of 30,000 in taxes. They say: Well, the danish car is 100,000 so that means 66,666.66 is tax. you then get to pay the 66,666.66 instead of the 30,000 dkr.

Then having a w116 on the road all year is taxed annually to 910 Euros.

It's hell. And personally I hope that the Bush administration will stop fiddling about in the middle east, and send the troops here, where the real crimes against humanity are being commited...

Wow that is terrible.  It must conspire against keeping older cars on the road.

When I buy a 116 here in South Africa, it costs around US$20 to 30 in fees to transfer the title, thereafter about US$ 30 to 40 annual license fee.

(well unless you are late in transfering the title in which case there are some stiffer penalties)

You can also try looking at some here, but the taxes are going to kill you. You may be familiar with is company as they are often featured on the RTL.de program of Die Autohandler - one of my favourites !

Very useful links. Thanks !

And the quality of their cars is good?

I know Mirbach are very reputable, and The Gallery also seems so - just from what I have seen on TV.

Ok, the 10.000 Euro 6.9 is talking to me...

When it's 35 I could register it as a veteran in DK.
