I'm sure there is no shortage in Germany though and you are only a stone's thow away, so what not go to Hamburg for a weekend and do some test drives there ?

Fred, that car is amazing.  Is the price about 10,000euro?  It sounds very expensive but it looks new.  If it's as good as it looks, there'd be nothing to do other than fuel it up then nothing but routine maintenance.  I know it doesn't have air con or self levelling rear suspension but I'm guessing you wouldn't need it anyway.  What a top 280!!

There's a nice W114 coupe in Black for Crayford as well - EUR 17,000 ! They have some very nice cars, but so are the prices.

Interesting how even in such a well cared for example the centre console has discoloured from green to brown.

I was so smitten with the look of the rare lower zebrano centre console without window switches, that I didn't notice.  But yeah, you're right.

Mines done the same thing, the console has gone from green to brown. it's going to need a bonnet mat too soon, theres the breadcrumbs on the air filter cover to say so. Apart from that, that is a lovely example a set of bundts would finish it perfectly for me though still love the car though.

All memento's cars simply look unbelieveable, I know some in Denmark who bought 123s from him. They are in amazing condition.

Ok in lack of a w116, I'll go look at a W126 500 SE from 1980. (today hopefully)

Ok,

Unfortunately, that was a waste of time, as if looking at Mercs could ever be a waste of time... ;)

Car was sadly in bad nick.

A W116 is not a car, its a lifestyle.

I take it even more so, with that 6.9  ;D

Indeed we are friendly - we can throw on a BBQ and a drive just for you. There is already a relationship between Australia and Denmark - and you can take home a few nice cars when you go back... who cares if they have the steering on the other side;D ;D ;D

 ;D

I just checked with the Danish tax authorities. A 450 SE will be taxed 3-4000 Euros whereas a 6.9 will be taxed 10.000 Euros.

A 280 SE 1000-2000 Euros.

Quite a difference.
