Why did you decide to purchase your w116?

I bought mine because it was a cheap way of getting into an M-100. I didn't think at the time that I would restore it. Just drive it to the ground and then say that I once owned a 6.9.

Of course, my perfectionist side got the better of my bank manager side and I ended up rebuilding it.

Quite frankly, it's the best looking Merc for the money.

An old SL will turn more heads and is better looking but costs 15 - 20 times of an equivelant 116 to get into in the UK.

There are so few about here that are probably the most rare of the affordable Mercs too.   I can't recall the last one I saw, but I saw 3 early 80s SL/SLC today and about 6 123 coupes just driving around Islington today.
