@Calvin, I skimmed the online version and compared it to my paper copy, and the contents are broadly similar. Examples of the differences in the UK copy are that it doesn't contain tips on the safe treatment of catalytic converters, or references to "gas stations", but overall the layout and chapter-structure is similar.

Here are photos of the 350SE data pages, which are obviously missing from the online version.

wow, i had no idea the 3.5 litre v8 had a 9.5:1 compression ratio, thats awesome.

A well sorted one would be a pleasure to drive im sure.

I must admit I hadn't noticed that the M116's weren't in the library, must mean that they weren't imported to the US officially. The high compression ratio would have indeed given pretty nice performance, probably with

accompanying fuel economy in inverse proportion I imagine.  ;D

Type17

Indeed, fuel economy is not great - around town, I get about 16 MPG (imperial), which is about 13 MPG (US) or 17.6 l/100km.

If I accelerate gently, and keep cruising speeds around 60-100 km/h (40-60 MPH), I can get up to around 21 MPG (17.5 MPG US or 13.4 l/100km).

Still, who cares - the performance is great, and still meets all MB performance figures.

I find it ironic that "SAFE DRIVING" should be written above a graph showing fuel consumption at 200km/h. ;)

While getting handcuffed: "but officer, its not dangerous driving, look, the manual says its ok"

Many thanks Type 17. I have so got to get me a copy of the owners manual one day.

I am sitting with a relatively good manual for the older 116's, it is white and turquoise.  I didn't realise that the newer 116's have an all blue manual.  If yours is an earlier type, drop me a message and I'll send it your way.

Hi..
Mines a 1976 350se, not sure if thats classified as early.

gavin116

Calvin,

The driver's instruction manual should follow the same colour as the maintenance booklet.  Take a closer look at some of the pictures on this post, it may clear things up.  However if you have neither, then we will need to ask some of the other guys on the forum.

Hope this helps

My 350SE is also a UK-market 1976 model, and my Owner's Manual and other docs are white and turquoise (see pic on white kitchen tiles, above)
