G,day, I went for a very nice late autumn spin this morning and filled up at the best value place I could find locally. I paid $1.34/L AUD. for 98 octane. Before the virus it was around $2.00/L.

What are you paying now and compared to BV?

In Ireland (Dublin area), the crap 97 octane we get here (95 + 5% ethanol, supposedly making it a 97) cost on average 1.45EUR/litre before the pandemic, and is down to 1.23EUR/litre now. That would be 2.41AUD/litre (1.60USD) and 2.03AUD/litre (1.36USD) respectively. Just under 70% of that is various taxes!

We haven't had proper >=98 octane fuel here since early 2005, when it was discontinued by all retailers due to excessive taxation and, by extensions, strangled demand.

Here in Canada in Vancouver area we pay about a buck CAD a litre, highest in the country mind you.  We get raped with taxes here, and the fact that we have the Alberta tar sands does not help either, a crappy industry to be in as our neighbour to the south dictates pretty much all economic activity in this country, sad but true, we are heavily effected by whatever whim "Orange Crush" feels like sticking on twitter every day, this is the new normal I guess...

Last week I filled up one of my cars, and I believe it was $1.92 per gallon.  So that would be approximately .50 cents per quart/liter.

Adelaide mainland Australia  about $1.10 for 91.....98 around 1.40 BUT it jumps up and down 25 c per litre without warning. Certainly on  average  a decent discount to pre Covid.
Oh and for about a month the insidious traffic abated about 50 per cent.........travel times were down 30% .it's almost back to normal now. We will never see that temporary "hiatus" again I daresay.
Curiously enuff the traffic accident rate was the same which has all the safety nannys puzzled. Can't really lower the speed limit or roll out another 50 cash for flash speed cameras on that stat now can you. ?
