armoured W116's are cool  :) i owned some years ago an armoured 1977 350SEL  it was an former Heineken car
his weight was about 2300kg and the engine couldnt be a standard 350 engine becouse it had more power than a 450se with normal weight , but it used 1liter fuel on every 1½ km for city driving , the windows were about 5cm thick and couldnt open and the front and rear screen were even thicker , the doors were verry heavy directly you feel when opening it this is not just anny W116 , the car also had bullet hits on the rear screen the bullets just only damaged the surface the look of that bullet hits in the rear screen were also cool i much liked it  ;) the police liked it too they pulled me over every time they drive behind me , and after some time i informed what a bullet proof rear screen would cost , bulletproof mercedes windows were made by sudglas in germany but that factory was taken over by another and iff they could deliver me a new bulletproof rearscreen it must be specially made for me and that costs about 10.000 euro they told me , so my decision was keep driving with the old one  ;D and amazing was that the front and the rear screen were so thick when looking tru it in some angle's the view was a little strange just like you suddenly wear glasses only you dont need glasses , and this car also had no ashtray in the front on the space were the ashtray normally would have been were some extra gauges an extra rpm meter and an oil temperature meter and they look verry mercedes like so i think it was original , but no ashtray i think was logical for an car without windows that can open , but it still was an cool car !

What did you do with it Johnny?
i sold the car but later i regret selling it , its about 6 years ago by the way , but the car still exist but i never have saw the car again but i think the car sooner or later will turn back  for sale on the internet here in holland , and i also know that the famous beerbrewer freddy heineken also had a milano brown metallic 350SEL also armoured , when i was verry young  i saw heineken drive  this brown 350SEL in belgium but if this one exists i dont know ? when the beerbrewer died the family sold several old cars he still owned , too bad they should have put all this cars in the heineken museum  .

Hi Friends,

I'm David,..., the dude with the panzers w116.

Right now I keep the four following armoured w116:
two 6.9 (with mechanical rear sunroof), armoured by Armalite of UK
a 450 SEL with electric "regular" sunroof, also armoured by Armalite.
and a factory werkspanzer 350 SE.
