w116 wall art - the finale!

I had this idea a few years ago when I wrecked a few 6.9s. I would pull the motors and all the bits, and sometimes get left with a body. The cars wrecked were generally rotten floors and other unrestorable cars before anyone gets too upset.  I hoped one day id have a garage big enough to fit a 116 on the wall, and that day arrived during the covid crisis.  so finally, I started.

it took about one week, a lot of holes in a brand new rendered wall, a lot of cursing, and generally dangerous antics walking up a ladder with body panels.

the donor was 6.9 #1741 I think it was. admittedly, after I got the pieces from my folks to take to the new place, I must have grabbed the wrong front quarter. I cant believe ive wrecked two blue 6.9s!! tonight when I went to check for some bits, I realised id taken the wrong quarter. hence the colour was wrong!! argh, I thought someone must have just painted it the wrong colour. I might change it later but after all this time, im a bit depleted at the moment

With these levels of madness, you properly belong on this forum, I'd say!
Well executed, sir!

2 thumbs up!!!!!

Hard to link any positive on Covid but finding the time to work on the LONG to-do-list was certainly good.  I arrived to address issues in the cars I had never imagine to do in the short-run.  Luckily the internet shops and the delivery guys didn't stop bringing the orders home.

Not automotive related but rather aviation; when I was looking for some parts I found an old propeller from an ancient restoration project.  The idea bulb (no pun intended) came on and voilĂ ...  I made a lamp out of it.  Thanks Covid for the extra time...

Excellent work Nathan, it certainly does help having lots of spare time to get these projects done.

Just watched a TV show where they hung half a Ferrari on a wall. TV show is about a junk yard and they got a half body somewhere. Very odd that someone cut a car in half in the first place.

:)

I'd say about 10-15Kgs, I placed a 40Kgs anchor into the roof. She's wood made so less heavier than a modern metal prop. Luckily around here houses are still made of solid stone. I hope it should be alright.
