Not to everyone's taste I am sure, but nicely documented resto.  Sadly no commentary.

That is not a video, it is a collection of pictures put together (slideshow if you will) - which is all that YT channel has. I remember seeing a thread about that build a few years back, can't remember which forum it was on. IIRC car is from Sweden.

Holy heck, it has wooden door handles. I read the comments. Wow, so many chrome wheel arch haters. Rude. I also don't quite understand this comment: "Zebrano was never an option in any W116 and is so rare many people have never seen it. You could get dark Walnut or burled walnut." Also: "A lot of Effort for a 4.5. A 6.9 would have made more sense . :-)" --Yeah, let's scrap every W116 that's not a 6.9. Unbelievable. Some people only know the price of things, but not the value. If the guys likes his 450SEL, let him put money into it. It makes more sense than some other cars that aren't as well made but have more of a following if you're going to actually use and enjoy it.

Well, here is a perfect example of what happens when one tries to play hero by reinventing the wheel.

I like what they did there. Against all purists, someone has built a car to their spec, while not really detracting from the overall form.

It is a shame that so little video exists on such an iconic car. Slide shows suck.

Lucas, I wasn't referring to how it was tastefully personalized.  That I have no problem with.  It's how they did it, the materials used, etc, that turn me off.  They spent all of this time and money on the car, yet chose to use cheap or incorrect materials.

I wasn't refering to your post specifically.

I think the key here is that it was done to someone's satisfaction. How they  got there is irrelevant. Generally what I'd have a problem with in such projects, is people trying to turn the car into something it's not. Everything else is personal preference :)
