Hi guys,
Having a lazy Sunday, I made a short video of the state of my 6.9.
https://youtu.be/Xas8ysXuN64
I bought this car 20 years ago or so, and the works on it have been chronicled since I joined the forum in 2007 or something. It reached a point Im pretty happy and hence, dont post too much over the last few years (the current project is a s123 280te).
anyway, thats the current state of my 6.9
regards
Nathan
Nathan, what a great car!
You have obviously done a lot of work on the car over the years. And the result is stunning!
Beautiful car, Nathan. Only a few numbers behind mine (6475), so made around the same time.
I hope that you enjoy many more miles.
Great video. Beautiful labor of love. You mentioned many details that I had never heard before. For example my rear window is bubbled like it's delaminating in the bottom center. I was confused until your video. You didn't mention it, I assume you replaced the door over the spare tire (mine sags). Did you replace the glove box liner?
Looks fantastic, new light lens make a huge difference.
Nice work Nathan..Dad's car isn't too bad either!
Nice cars, both of them, and clearly plenty of work and effort gone into them!
One thing though - I think the rubber liner in the boot was supposed to go over the carpet, not under it.
Both of the ones I have that are still in good shape have those vertical edges along the length of it, which hug the sides of the carpet.
Cheers guys,
Randy, dads 6.9 had a silly amount of money spent on it, there's another video on that one. Admittedly, the market probably almost has it break even now after 10 years ha ha
Eyeman, the rear glass was two pieces pressed together with the demister strips in between them and barely visible on a tinted car. When window seals fail, water gets below the two panels at the bottom and then creeps up. Thats when you get the milky shame! the glass 'delaminates' and the process cant be reversed sadly. I may be confused Eyeman (ps are you an ophthalmologist?!), but I didnt need to replace the wood over the spare wheel in the boot. Mine never sagged so was alright. The glovebox liner is a spare unit. I took out my original and then cut a 6 inch hole or so in the back of a spare one to fit that radio in. I dont do anything on my cars I cant reverse (when I was younger I committed some sins!), im a bit nutty like that.
PT, Im not sure what the best way for the rear is. You could argue either way. That carpet is very hardy thankfully as dad puts all sorts of stuff in his!

Nathan
Nathan, close, I'm an optometrist.
My rear window is not getting foggy, it was a 6x6inch triangular area near center at the botom that has yellow horizontal stripes.
I've owned my car since 1994ish and had very little in it until my recent full suspension rebuild (which was not cheap at all). I'm working minor issues and stripping all the paint to go back to the original gray blue. Hopefully I won't have too much total in the repaint.
Excellent eyeman, sounds like it will be gleaming again! keep us posted, especially during the paint process
regards
Nathan
That's one fine 6.9.
