116benz, I just leaked again. :D

Who's in for an Aus group buy.  A shipload of containers and bring 'em back here.  The lot, w116's and the rest.  Some nice looking rims amongst 'em I noticed.

What's the story, is it a wreckers or what?

They are not cheap, apart from the gold 100.00 euro one which could be a typo.

Wonder how they compare to our ebay bargains.

hmmmmmmmmm....  293 km – ca. 2 uur 41 min, maybe quicker if there's autobahn without the 130km restriction

Very competitive prices they have there imho, however you seem to have to log in to get further information about particular cars, as if they only trade with dealers? Must get one of my German speaking friends to check out the site.

( although I already take up 14 meters in front of my house with Mercedes's  :(  )

Cam (as in racing Cam  ;D ) I say we need to pull off another team effort- if you know what I mean. ::)

We'll all take a trip to Germany (each of us will take a passenger- they will be the secondary drivers), along with all our W116's. Block the streets...we go from there. :o

;D ;)

Word Brother!!
I was gonna suggest the same thing!  ;)

Un-believable.  2000 Euro, what's that equate to?  Bout 5-6K Australian?
They all look in tip top condition!  I guess we haven't seen the interiors, but if it's in Germany you can be sure that they've been looked after with the usual Deutsches Efficiency!!  :)

Don't know what it's exactly for...but I know if I was a billionaire I would probably buy that entire place (inc. the shed). :)

Maybe he bought them off ebay? *shrugs*

The bulk of his stock, looks pretty much like you could fuel up, get in and drive off, he's picked the "future collector status" models as well.

No, I've now found my very own Tesco's or Waitrose or Woolworths or Safeway's (wherever you live). The dark blue SEL has an extra foglight too...thats different

If this is heaven, then im about 50cm away from you, Martin.

As far as the story goes, I think the Sports Car magazine probably got it right ! Great collection though, and imagine what fun you would have IF you did find this lot.

I'd say it is likely a high-end wrecking yard.  Remember, that ALL these cars suffered and died due to high taxes to get low MPG vehicles off the roads in Europe.  Plenty of yards in California with similar inventories - but they STACKEM

It appears that the "oldtimerhalle" is a sort of exposition / salespoint for car dealers and garages.

It has also been said that the place is best avoided, don't know exactly why yet, probably because it's full of used car salesmen.

I had one of my German friend check out the Oltimer Halle and it appears they will sell to anyone.

Here's a translation of what some kind chap posted over on the Dutch site at my request, the information is pretty much agreed on by other members of the same forum and by Dutch speaking internet users in general.......

Quote
When I was first looking for a 116 I went to that place, with family that lived in the area. After a lot of messing about I finally got an appointment and got to check out an impressive ( that well ) amount of 116's that were either dying or dead. The chap from the place was helpfull but made most of his sales due to the naivety of his customers, as in underestimating what a coin sized hole in the chassis actually means in man hours to repair. The best description of the place would be a "tidy" wreckers, where quantity comes before quality. To sum up, maybe nice to take a look, but not more.

Thanks to Vincent over at the www.w116.nl forum
