Don't know what it's exactly for...but I know if I was a billionaire I would probably buy that entire place (inc. the shed). :)

Maybe he bought them off ebay? *shrugs*

The bulk of his stock, looks pretty much like you could fuel up, get in and drive off, he's picked the "future collector status" models as well.

The website for this is:

Says theres about 60 w116's. I think I'm numb from the adrenaline shock, I used to joke about the barn full of 116 booty, erm I think I found it.

Looking at this pic makes me think I've died and gone to heaven.....in fact it looks like my blue lady (bottom right of the 1st pic) is already there waiting for me!

No, I've now found my very own Tesco's or Waitrose or Woolworths or Safeway's (wherever you live). The dark blue SEL has an extra foglight too...thats different

If this is heaven, then im about 50cm away from you, Martin.

As far as the story goes, I think the Sports Car magazine probably got it right ! Great collection though, and imagine what fun you would have IF you did find this lot.

I'd say it is likely a high-end wrecking yard.  Remember, that ALL these cars suffered and died due to high taxes to get low MPG vehicles off the roads in Europe.  Plenty of yards in California with similar inventories - but they STACKEM

It appears that the "oldtimerhalle" is a sort of exposition / salespoint for car dealers and garages.

It has also been said that the place is best avoided, don't know exactly why yet, probably because it's full of used car salesmen.

I had one of my German friend check out the Oltimer Halle and it appears they will sell to anyone.

Here's a translation of what some kind chap posted over on the Dutch site at my request, the information is pretty much agreed on by other members of the same forum and by Dutch speaking internet users in general.......

When I was first looking for a 116 I went to that place, with family that lived in the area. After a lot of messing about I finally got an appointment and got to check out an impressive ( that well ) amount of 116's that were either dying or dead. The chap from the place was helpfull but made most of his sales due to the naivety of his customers, as in underestimating what a coin sized hole in the chassis actually means in man hours to repair. The best description of the place would be a "tidy" wreckers, where quantity comes before quality. To sum up, maybe nice to take a look, but not more.
