clearly thats a Photoshop vehicle  8)

The front end looks like an American pickup truck, not euro at all.

Miinus the GMC front end  treatment what a nice exercise for a 116 coupe!

The first coupe looks nice and the grille/headlight integration is very creative. The second coupe is almost comical in appearance and reminds me of this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mercedes-SEL-W116-Pickup-Exklusiv-Handmade-1-43-/360368551267?pt=Spielzeugautos&hash=item53e7a3b563&clk_rvr_id=234370784271

That first coupe is the go, fix up the front end and it would look quite nice. Interesting that it has the double height bumper sections, as actually seen on some Crayford wagons. A 116 wagon is the other thing that would

have been interesting to see the factory put into mass production, I'm sure they would have done a far superior job to the Crayfords, which look like a sedan with the back end of something else bogged onto the back,

probably because that's pretty much what they are. The result is pretty crapulous IMO.

What's all the hype?

Here's one Mercedes already made.

In fact, a lot of our 116 design features are derived from the R107 SL's (and then the later SLC).

Comparing the SLC pic with the Photoshop pic in the first post, I prefer the "W116 Coupe" - the short boot/trunk lid of the SLC (because of the heavily-sloped rear window), combined with the low-cut rear arch lends a heavy, slabby side view- the 'shopped image resolves all these issues in a much better way.

Ditto. Fix the front end in the 'shopped one and you have one of the nicest looking cars I've ever seen.

Just my 2 cents...

Mercedes actually made an SEC for the W126, which was a whole different animal from an SLC.  More spacious/luxurious inside, full back seat and huge trunk.

Now if they'd have made a diesel W126 coupe, would it have been an SDC or an SCD?

The person I bought my W110 wagon from was driving a W126 diesel coupe. It was labeled as a 300SDC. Custom job, of course.

That would make sense given that the gasser was an SEC, but then again the W123 diesel coupe was labeled CD by Mercedes, not DC...  Maybe they never made one simply because they couldn't decide what to label it. ;)
