Spinning the rear wheels in a 6.9

I have always known that full throttle starts in my Euro 6.9 fitted with 16 inch 225 tyres will spin the rear wheels but today after a nice long 90 minute run I gave it about 3/4 throttle on a dry road and surprised "she who must be obeyed" by snaking out into the traffic with both rear tyres spinning furiously thus suggesting the LSD is working fine and dandy.

Made me feel quite the Hoon - lucky there were no blue meanies about.

Ah, what fun it is. Better a Benz than a rice burner for sure!

I loved stomping that pedal in my Ramcharger 5.9; have yet to do it in the 4.5 ... probably hold off until I'm sure all is well, but gosh that lead foot does entice me.

Smoking up front tires is just lame.

Now that ive been driving rear wheel drive again for the past few months im remembering how fun it is during the wet season coupled with corners and round abouts.  8)
If you see a white lpg bf falcon wagon drifting sideways around a corner, chances are its me.  ::)

i must be getting old Bill.
some trady did a burnout in his hilux on my corner the other day in the wet, and then stopped at his worksite 3 doors down from my place.
i drove that way on my way to work 3 minutes later, stopped, wound down the windows (manual of course) of the G and told him if he wished to drive like a di%^head, to do it in his own neighbourhood. no reply from the 3 tradeys - maybe i look intimidating in an elevated Gwagen (that and they dont realise what a skinny bugger i am inside the car!)
i shuold have just drove on their lot, and done a doughnut on their driveway - explain that to the owners!

I think you must be Nathan ;D

Not sure I feel comfortable being compared to tradies in a Hilux - after all my loss of traction was unexpected and not planned (?Constable?). ;D

I have become very accustomed to the very rapid take off and outstanding traction of my E500 which can fit quickly into a small gap in the traffic and sometimes forget the Neanderthal but entertaining nature of a 6.9.

LOVE IT!

I refrain of course because im always worried the car will spit chunks of flex disk if I do nail the loud pedal but the rolling manual 3rd to 2nd shift with WOT does me fine..

When I was driving my 6.9 around (it's been a while now), it was all too easy to spin the rear wheels with any application of the throttle that wasn't smooth. Admittedly I'm running 205s, but things get interesting when both wheels loose traction... I take it easy normally, but like to do a bit of "exploration" at times. ;)

I believe MT is the maestro of sideways action though. ;D
