It seems that the Claude Lelouch 6.9 that was used in the making of "Rendevous" was Astral Silver with what looks to be either black or dark blue velour interior....How do I know this?

Check this out!

Thanks, I enjoyed that a lot.  I agree the car looks silver with black, but of course that's in the 2006 re-enactment.  It doesn't mean its the same car as in '76.

Though in the period photo of the camera mounting the car does look to be a light colour, posisbly silver - and from what you see of the reg plate in the period photo, the first 2 digits could well match the number on the car in 2006 12PDJ75

My French sucks - is he saying it is the same car?  THay would be waaaay cool.

By the way, Claude Lelouch says at the start of the film that the car in 2006 is the same colour as the original car. Haven't watched it all yet.

If one was  mechanically unsympathetic - I am sure an "ordinary" 450 could spin it's wheels, especially after loading up the torque converter against the brakes. It would leave a single black line as most do not have slippery diffs.

I'm going to check out a 6.9 for sale tonight in canberra.  Asking 10k for it - though no pics and 250,000 on the clock.
Gonna try organise a swap out deal for both my 450's (cause the ol' man doesn't want his 16yr old son keeping it) 6.9L is too much for him he reckons..not too much for me though!   ;D

Looks like i may haev one of those LSD's soon enough hopefully!

I'll post pics later this evening..

That's why I own an ML 500 with airmatic DC and off-road pro pack Greg - as well as a long warranty.

It's probably also why I am still very happily married after a couple of decades - so long as I can keep her alive.

Best of luck with the prospective purchase SELfor50
