and sadly, #18 rolls out for one last time (or was towed out by the GL).  the metal wreckers have been called and the car awaits its fate.

I'd kill for a set of Euro bumpers and all you ROW guys are just scrapping them.  :'(

Such is life.

I keep the good ones Harv (have about 5 sets) and dump the crap ones like this ones rear.
the surface pitting means an entire rechroming, costs about $1500 for a 116.  looks fantastic when done but im told its not a particularly healthy trade!

Yup finding a nice set here in NA is now nigh impossible :o  Problem is if you do find a nice set, shipping is horrendous so the deal is tough to seal.

they are big SOBs thats for sure. the reinforcement and mounting frames are where most of the weight seems to be.

Nathan,

  • I've attached a picture of a 740 pastel gray w123. It's more white than grey.
  • It had a Grand Prix radio not a Mexico. Even on the 6.9 the top of the line radio was optional. Heck, #140 didn't come with a radio, antenna (neither automatic or mechanic) or rear speakers from the factory (probably dealer installed)
  • Maybe the dealer ordered steelies and replaced them with bundts before delivery, although i doubt they did that in those days.

And ROW tail lights! I'm not dying to have them but still sad to see them crushed when they're so rare (here).

Most of us would rather have rusty ROW bumpers than clean USA park benches! :D
