Today we went on a family outing in the 280S. I happened to take a pic in the carpark at Hillarys (looks stupid without the apostrophe!) Boat Harbour, in the norther suburbs of Perth, Western Australia.

Here it is in the car park;

With a good radiator fitted and cooling system fully serviced;

I checked the engine number this evening to see what engine this in fact is, as I noticed the spline socket head bolts... I've only ever seen those on M103 and later engines. It seems that this engine is actually from a left hand drive W126 280S, as it is an M110.924, 12. Very interesting.

I am very impressed with how the car drives, but the front end doesn't feel quite as "right" as it should. I'll have to look into that.]

Here I am driving along the freeway this evening;

Cheers,

I just got back from a weekend at Margaret River in it. All went very well, and got to test the car out on some corrugated unsealed roads. The suspension took a real beating, but handled it well if a bit harsh.

When I went to the grog shop in the Margaret River township, I spotted an Augusta registered 280SE in what I think was the light yellow colour (it was covered in red dirt).
