My 116 280se 1977

I've put 100000kms on her and only problem was reverse band went in the gearbox this year.

It has been a daily, third car, kid lugger, work hack and we got married with her. Plans now are club rego, lowered springs from one of the members here and soon whitewall tyres.

It already looks low in the first 2 pics.  NIce car, but I just can't fancy it with ww tyres.

Icon Gold is one of those colours that just suits the 116!

Nice car!

Yes top two pics are from this week after I had springs installed. Fronnt is too high as they came out of a 6.9 and the old 6 isn't quite as heavy so the front needs to come down to match the rears.

I think the whites will be ok.

Anyone know of some icon gold hubcaps or a good place to get them refurbed as 2 of them could do with a touch up?

I reckon she sits nice now and I like the whitewall idea!  I saw one at the Bright Rod Run last year but wasn't quick enough to snap a pic.....  She looks very clean and I'd be keen for more shots of the interior, under the bonnet and the boot!  Hey what ru doing on the 16th???

I think I have hubcaps in that very colour!!!  Not sure of their condition though; I know they need a clean!  Send me a PM for more details....

Underbonnet let's her down but I've always been too scared to clean in there in case the old oil and grease is holding it together!!

16th be here. I'm in Brisbane btw.

Hubcaps would be awesome irrespective of condition!

I have a ledger kept by the dealer West Star Motors on Coronation Drive in Brisbane that lists every MB they sold between 1970 and 1977. If you have a look at the photo on the 3rd last line your car is listed with the name and address of the first owner.

Its an interesting little bit of history. At the top of the 1973 page is OAW567- and white over blue 250 which I once owned.

I came to see your car when it was for sale a couple years ago, hopefully you fixed the SLS pump seal.

Please keep it all original!

My milan brown donor has whitewall tyres, and they look great.
Might be just a contrast thing.

Nice car, looks good!

How is your car lowered?

Thanks Paulo, great document thanks for posting it.

Yeah I know you of course!

You should have bought it! Lol at the old sls pump, I have blanked off the pump as you may remember the rear sls had been replaced with coil and springs before my ownership which you guys were scratching your heads at.

The originality is as best as can be. it will never be a concours car and as it's not a 6.9 justifying a lot of spend for the sake of originality is hard to justify.

I prefer to think in terms of 'period' modifications, or hidden modifications like the stereo in glovebox retaining the Becker etc.

Loscreepers, it is only a 2 inch lower custom spring.

How cool is that ledger??!!  I wonder if one of my cars is in there....

BTW I'll dig out those hubcaps after Christmas

Thanks oversize. I've ordered a set of brabus 16inch mesh monoblocs one of the forum members put me onto here.

I'll run the whitewalls and hubcaps most of the time and keep the brabus wheels for special occasions!

Any pix of the wheels?  They sound great!
