450sel5.0

Hi all, I have not been on for a while, I have an 8 month old Baby Girl taking up a fair bit of my time these days  ;D
I have just bought another 450SEL 6.9 which I will be restoring shortly, I will post some pic's once I remember how.
Its a little rusty but looks like a good restorer.
I have still got the 5.0L in my sign written 450SEL 1979
And I have done a light restore on a 450SEL 1974 because I like the way it drove, it was to be one of my wrecks. needed a few rust repairs, new interior, gearbox, a full suspension re-bush/rubber, all brake components....long story short the engine is the only part not replaced LOL  :P    This car has become my tow car, It looks cool towing other Benz's around.
I will post a pic when I can remember how.
Take care.

450sel5.0,

Who made the hitch and what is the towing capacity?  I wonder if the same would work with U.S. bumpers?

450sel5.0

Haha. It started out as a soggy wet interior with rusty floors no reverse gear, dodgy diff, no brakes, worn out suspension, baled tyred, misfiring, crapy paint job pile of... Basically it was Mater the towtruck from the movie Cars, problem is I can not resist fixing things, technically it is my bomb. But it looks nice.
Full respray windows out and trim off, late 1979 blue MB tex interior, nasty clip on dash cover, sheep skins, rust repairs, all new suspension and steering parts I had lying round. The engine is original 1,350,000km I believe. Has 3 broken head studs on the Rh head, leaks oil from Rh head rear, makes an interesting whining noise when cold, uses 1 litre oil per 1000km, sucks air around the inlet manifold making it a little rough at idle however with all that said it pulls cars all over Australia and the only breakdown I had was a set of points collapsing, I carry a spare set in the glove box  :D
Before I started to tow truck it before all the repairs I installed the upgraded chain guides and new chain. So now just proving how indestructible these engines are lol.
