I recently bought a genuine Mercedes grille mesh for my 116, and the parts guy at the dealer mentioned that the system showed a "final stock" footnote, which means that it is about to become NLA (no longer available), and the remaining stock is all that is left.

The system didn't mention how many are left, but if you were thinking of getting one sometime, it might be a good idea to do it sooner than later...

Here's a shot of the original '76 grille (damaged by UV, surface gone white and crumbly) and the new, darker one, and another shot of it on the car with the chrome cleaned up and transferred (get a few of the clips that hold the horizontal strips on, as they are small and it's easy to damage them when removing).

would be interesting to know but i think its highly unlikely. we bought a some a couple of years ago, pretty cheap too. certainly makes a difference, the car looks nice! I've often found if you ask a dealer here in australia, the number of times they have said NLA, then i ask overseas and no problems, new stock sent.

I agree that there is likely to be stock in a few distributors around the world, but 90% of Irish dealer parts (for classic MBs) comes from the UK, or Germany in the first place (not stored nationally), and the note mentioned "final stock in Germany", which would imply that it might be more tricky to get them in Europe in the future, although there could well be remainning stock in the US, Australia/NZ or Asia.

I wouldn't worry that much about plastic parts, to be honest. Access to 3D printers is fairly easy and cheap these days, and making a model is not rocket science anymore.
