James R, not on the UK list so ill include it if sent (maybe you would like the taks of UK monitoring - there similarly cant be many RHD 6.9s in the UK either?)...

I seem to recall somewhere that the UK deliveries were pretty similar in number to Australia - which is pretty low when you consider the populations of the respective countries - but then, Australia is not called the lucky country for nothing.

i may be pulling this one from nowhere, but i believe it was around 700 because as CraigS noted, i thought this meant that UK numbers were low considering oz got 228...Greg, i wonder if mbenz south africa could tell you how many came in to your country?

I doubt they would have any record. I think the Classic centre would have more info or the factory. The 2 RHD cars that I know of were both UK delivered. I may be sticking my neck out here, but I seriously doubt that there was ever a 6.9 delivered here new!! I know of a few 6.3's though.

If one looks at the 600's for example, I know for a fact that only 17 were delivered new to South Africa, one of which was the Presidential landaulet. The official figures must be available from Mercedes for the 6.9.

What doe you think S Class?

I recall a post where someone had asked, or was working with the Classic Centre to get this information. What happened to it ? I also asked them at one point, but never received a reply.

i wrote to benz in aus personally craig...they told me the numbers for 6.9 imports which i was actually surprise about...im sure ive seen the rhd total number, but cant remember where

Greg the only RHD 6.9 I know of here is Waldo's.  Which is the other - Rembrandt?

the LHD cars I know of :

a) Grant V - running
b) the rusty one in Alberton - running
c) the parts car I saw in the warehouse - non-runner, somewhat complete
d) the one I saw in Durban 10 years ago that may or may not still exist ?
e) the one lying in parts in a field in Midrand.  - incomplete, non-runner

I'm of the understanding there were no official imports when new.

I stumbled across a mailing site that had nothing to do with what I was looking for and noticed these details plus abit more I omitted.
What's the go with the 7.2L.  Is there a ridgy didge AMG 6.9 in auslander?
