A friend of mine many years ago chopped the top off a HZ Statesman, car had a lot of chassis rail strengthening , extra rails wielded in to compensate for the lack of roof.

I agree, not my taste without the full cabriolet feel.

I wouldn't have the heart to chop a 6.9 like that. A friend of mine bought a 111 280SE 3.5 cabriolet that had burnt out and was written off the the insurers. He had a coupe which he cut the roof off and swapped the salvage parts from the cabrio like the soft top frame etc. I have yet to ask him if he strenghtened the chasis???? I know a car will crack in half if the chasis is not strengthened if the roof is cut off!!
