I had to share this with you fellas.  The green interior is to die for, as is the rest of the car....not crazy about the wheels though.  It's priced double what it's actually worth state side, but still a very deserving car.

Good to be reminded that it is possible to get to that standard but yes, the wheels, where did they come from?

Wow, small world. I looked at that car exactly 2 years ago when it was offered for sale in the Midwest by the race car driver mentioned the auction (great and super honest guy btw). I actually liked the color combination, but decided to pass. One month later I ended up with the California 77.

Those are Centra wheels from a later model

I have a set that I bought for a cocaine 80s themed 190D. I like the look of them and they are decently light but the chrome finish on them does not last and is very prone to flaking, which is why I am planning to paint my set white to match the car. They look decent on the 116 but in my opinion they are a little too 80s for the 116.

While I agree, the problem that arises is with this is when it comes time to buy.  So many people in the U.S. and much of western Europe (no offense to any of you fellas on the forum) will agree that it's worth the asking price, but when they are considering an actual purchase, it's only worth scrap value.  And, of course, should they actually buy the car for scrap value, it all of a sudden becomes worth tens of thousands of dollars.....and don't forget that is also magically becomes RARE!  (I hate that word with a passion) As one might imagine, the penny pinchers have a negative impact on values.  Sellers often times have to price the car for more than it's worth to keep the bottom feeders at bay.  The strange thing is that most of the bottom feeders are enthusiasts, while the rest are just car flippers.  It all boils down to people wanting something for nothing, I suppose.  The W116 is the only remaining affordable classic that can offer big bang for the buck, and I understand wanting to get a good deal.  Who doesn't?  If the cards of this game arena't played right, the W116 will no longer be an affordable car, and all of the parts for W116 cars will be inflated ten fold.  Be careful out there.

I totally get a high reserve but to start the  bidding at $12K when decent 6.9's are struggling to crack the 10K barrier is madness.

Asking price was exactly $6,000.00 2 years ago  8)

I don't think it's worth the asking price. Early spec, clearly messed with US model with sagging seats that look nothing like 68k miles? Nah ;)
