I'll continue the trend, I'm 33

Had my eye on the 350SE when my dad bought it in 1989. It cost $25,000 AUD back then.  I finally got hold of it and caught the 116 bug around 3yrs ago and I'm now self-diagnosed obssesive-compulsive for all things 116 and mercedes :P .

That's a lotta km's s class

I'm 29.  My 1977 280SE is the first M-B I've owned.  I'd always wanted an M-B and my fiancee and I decided to buy one from the year we were born.

I must say, im surprised at how young the W116 owners are! I'm dirty tree (33) and i've owned my 6.9 for two years. My second car was a 1971 Mercedes Benz 250CE which I still own and is sitting outside my fathers house. I bought that when I was 19.

I now have three W116's

73 350SE 4 speed
76 6.9
79 6.9

Can I take the poll three times?

Well... Al...
U can try  ;D
There might be 3 w116's and I congratulate U for that one ;) but U're the only owner. That's nice too.
I'd love a w116 with a bigger engine...  :D But I have to stick to my 280se wich for now works fine.

I hear you Andrew, fortunately even though people complain. Gas is cheap here in the US and the W116 is worth dirty right now (although Neil's 6.9 just sold for $17000 USD). So we get the bigger cars, you being in Bucharest get some of the most beautiful women that I've ever seen.

My company has an office in Bucharest. Maybe I'll get a ride in your 280SE some day.

13.8L? You were serious Al. Congratulations, lucky b*stard as we would say down here. :D

Andrew, not meaning to criticise your poll, it's a good poll with interesting results so far.  I'd be interested in to see a few more categories ie 45-55, 55-65 and winnebago owner age - kick the bucket.  It just seems 45 until lights out is a looong time. (hopefully).

Yep, I'm just closing this deal as we speak. The car is in the desert so no rust!

I'm just dirty (30) :)

I have owned my 1977 450SE for about 7 years  after inheriting it from my father who inherited it from his father... three generations, one car :)

Good grief - I was waiting for someone older than me to post  :-[

I'm 38; fell in love with the 6.9 in Adelaide in 1980 - green (AMG) with all chrome blacked out and went like hell!! I have learnt on this forum it still lives in Adelaide today!!!
Bought my 6.9 in May 05 and set about converting it to AMG specs; Has been lots of fun getting there and accumulating stuff along teh way.  It introduced me to EBAY - for which I curse it (its cost me $$) ::)  Only done about 5000km's in it.

Next project is the leather - I've bought all the Leatherique stuff (rejuvinator, dye, cleaner, crack filler).  Will post before and after shots and tips as I go!!

Here is someone elses efforts!

sigh....sitting back contemplating the next purchase..!

I'm also surprised that I am not one of the younger ones. I'm 32. Bought my first MB (W123 250) in 1997 at 23 then owned a W116 280SE and for the past 4-5 years the 6.9. I broke or took bits off 3 other W116s in this time. I drive other cars only for economy reasons. The tax on fuel has just gone up another 5% in the UK. It's now about US$1.80 a litre. That's a lot of money to fill the 96 litre tank in a W116!

I'm 30, been driving Mercs for 4 years, on my 2nd 124 now (E300D) and my 2nd 116. I couldn't imagine driving any other make. I'd like to drive it more but like Adam said due to fuel costs my 116 only normally gets to come out at weekends for posing around London. I'd like to find a 6.9, but the odds on finding a good one in a colour combo I like that I can afford are pretty slim! The 124 is my daily driver, I put some diesel in it every now and then and it goes on for ages... :)

This is why as much as I love london, I could never move back. I just like gas guzzlers too much. Which part of London are you guys from?

Well I'll be stuffed,
Looks like I'm the oldest so far, I'm 51 still feel like an 18 year old when I get behind the wheel of the 6.9. The first 6.9 I bought locally from a chap who had no idea of what he had and was running it into an early grave, I rescued it and now is my pride and joy its a Euro model (high compression engine) in Icon gold. 167,000mls on the clock.

Similar story with my second 6.9,(Light Blue, Cream Leather interior) it was destined to be a spare parts car for my gold one. However when I picked it up again locally it still had a few weeks rego. On the drive home about 50 kms I relised this car was as good if not better than the first one.
That was a dilemma that i'm still dealing with!
