And you know what ?

I'm converted - I take back everything bad I've ever said about it.

Its not to be considered "turd brown" by any stretch of the imagination, in person, not in photos it actually has a deep red/brown colour to it. It suits the style of the w116 extremely well and I would be very happy to have one with fresh paint particularly with a white interior.

Long live the w116.

My 116 was originally turd brown with orange/camel inside.  Fortunately, some one painted the outside white (which now needs repainting), but the engine bay/trunk-hold is still a reminder of that god awful color.

Long live the 70's... erm 80's.

People seem to confuse Topaz brown with Milan Brown and yes Milan brown is a very nice colour.

My last 300SD was Milan Brown. I really liked the color. Now I have my favorite color, Walnut Brown, which is non-metallic, almost black. Unfortunately it was painted in black at one time and now the clear coat is peeling off.

There is an absolutely pristine milan brown 450SEL in the Perth area because I followed it down Mundaring Weir Rd a year or so ago.

It had WA plates and looked like it had just left the showroom.

It positively glowed in the warm sun and presumably had working aircon as the windows were wound up.

About a year ago I saw a 1980 350 SE in Milan/parchment leather with sunroof, bundts etc. Perfectl colour combo. I stalked the owner and went for a test drive - the odo had then just turned over 300 000kms - still a smooth as butter.
Milan brown is very rare here in the RSA.
Yes, it is a deep red/copper/brown and it does suit the 116 and it is stunning.

I would be very happy with the Milan Brown/Bambus combo in excellent condition. It seems to be quite rare however.
