I Drove A 6.9 Today For The First Time

Raueda1 stopped by today in his 6.9 (all the way from Northern Utah to Southern Arizona) to get some parts from my parts car. He let me take his 6.9 out for a drive. It's really interesting how the hydropneumatic suspension doesn't jar or bounce like springs, and floats over bumps. It's probably one of few 6.9s that are well-kept enough to be able to do such a long trip, plus the air conditioning actually works! Check out those Pirelli tires on 15" bundts.

Damn that looks good. Those 15 inch Bundts look killer too. Are those Pirelli P6000?

Man it looks tight! Great colour. Always such a contrast to see a Euro vs a US spec.  I love them both in different ways ;D

They're Pirelli P600's.  typo maybe?  In any case, they ride and handle great.  Unfortunately expensive and apparently hard to find. I was lucky to get them.

Hey, thanks for the kind words!  Just rolled into my driveway.  It will even look better once some of the new stuff is installed.  I'm going to post a road trip report shortly.  I answered my own question per another thread.  https://forum.w116.org/test-drive/would-you-take-your-6-9-on-a-1000-mile-road-trip/
Great trip!

First time I drove a 6.9, I was also intrigued by the ride quality. The other thing that stood out to me was the gearing (I'm used to 4-speeds).

Gorgeous car! So what parts were so special that you drove all that way for them? :) Or did you just want the car to stretch its legs?

The parts were really just the perfect excuse to stretch its legs.  Timing of Squiggles parts car and my recent repairs aligned so it made sense.  Interior color is parchment, which doesn't seem that common.  Squiggle's parts car was too, so I wanted to salvage what I could.   The car really is in remarkable shape.  I don't know how it escaped rust issues, but it did.  I still have some WUR issues to sort out and interior is MB-tex.  I want leather.   ;D

That car is absolutely stunning!  If I saw that driving past me I'd likely have an accident from staring at it for too long!
