Hydraulic Jack

Do any of you know anything about the hydraulic jack that was available for the W116?  What does it look like, and has anyone ever seen one?  It was meant for the Stretch and Armored versions, but was available to anyone who wanted one.  It currently shows to still be available for about $700-$800, and the part number is 116-583-02-15.  Like Stan, I love knowing about the weird off-the-wall things that most had not idea about.

In addition, do any of you have the shortwave adapter that was available for the W116?  It is option code 522.   If so, would you mind posting some pictures.  Apparently, a different glove box was utilized because the short wave adapter was mounted in the glove box.  There are three versions of glove box's, two for left hand drive, (116-689-11-91, and 116-689-15-91), and one for right hand drive cars (116-689-12-91).  In addition, there are two different shortwave adapters that were available, and I'm not sure what the difference would have been.  Their part numbers are 116-820-01-86 and 116-820-02-86.

The shop manual describes a mounting for an hydraulic jack fitted adjacent to the spare wheel. Nothing else though.

If you are that interested I will have to get it out and re-read it. From memory it was shop built and not an MB part/

Those are pretty obscure part numbers indeed!
Only hits at Benz17VIN.com, and that means nothing.
I would think you need sheer luck, and maybe go on a mission is the Arab Emirates, to find someone listing dumped 6.9's with full options.. Yeah, right.

I may be interested in the Jack, though. It is also listed as an NLA part for the 560SEL, strange enough, under the same A116 number.
Could you find out what that thing really costs at your side, and/or it is really available?

Stan, My cost on the jack (wholesale) is what I stated in my original post, $700-$800 U.S. dollars.  When I wrote this post, the part was a good number and still available.....and now it's not all of a sudden.  That's how I got the price in the first place.  That means one of two things......(1) Classic in Fellbach got wind of my mentioning this jack, realized they only had one or two left and immediately pulled them off of the shelf so they wouldn't be sold, or (2) a forum member read the post, ordered it, and likely got the last one.

Guys, if you buy something that is hard to come by, and in doing so deplete any stock that there was, then please be respectful by letting the W116 forum members be aware.  There's no need to be sneaky.

Mark, were you talking about the mounting bracket that had to be made, or the jack itself?

It was a shop built item as I suppose it would have to made to fit the jack. Looked through the manual where I thought it was but not there so I will have to look through all the other stuff. From memory it was only two plates shaped to fit in the rear wing recess and cut out to accept the jack. Remembered it because I thought it a good idea at the time and would do it.

Scored a new Jack-in-the-box :) It's in the mail! Getting ready to ship a kidney to Nigeria to pay for it.

The hydraulic one?  And of all places, why would Nigeria charge a premium for a car part?  That makes no sense......nonetheless, I'm happy you've found one!
