Johnny, you must be in the http://w116.nl/ club, yes?  I want to move to Holland.  The Netherlands is the w116 capital of the world IMO, full of quality w116.

through the years i owned much  mercedes this were my W116's :
280S 1976 dark green metalic my verry first one i was only 16 at the time 
280S 1979 gold metalic
280SE 1978 light blue metalic
280SE 1978 USA model dark green metalic one of the most beautyfull W116 in holland!drives now in turkey
280S 1980 dark green metalic was from februari 1980
450SE 1978 silver metalic 
450SE 1975dark green metalic
350SEL 1977 bullitproof ex Heineken car with 5litre motor
280S 1978 light green metalic with manual gearbox
280SE 1975 with an awful shit brown color and a green interior
350SEL 1977 silver metalic with an L.P.G instalation
280S 1978 silver metalic this one had 425.000km on it ! he was verry slow !
450 SEL 6.9 1975 black he is number 102 needs work this one i still own
280SE 1972 pastell weiss this one i still own too , and its my dayley driver   
i also owned several W107,W108,W114,W115,W123,W124,W126,W201 types too

I am lost for words!!! I really do hope that you can share more details of each of the cars with us and share the experiences of driving and owning so many different ones!

oh i forgot one  a 280SE from 1972 with an strange green color with as only option a second mirror
but an engine of gold 200km top speed 
yes i have much W116 experiences on my 16th birthday i got my first one i didnt even had my drivers licence at the time and about every year i buy another W116 i always had about 3 or 4 mercedes at the same time mostly a W123 300D and a W126 280SE and my W116 offcourse !
i am a serious fanatic of 280SE they are verry good for driving every day in holland we drive much on L.P.G
Liquified Petrol Gas becouse its cheaper but i dont like this L.P.G i like the expensive petrol more

i wish i had all the cars !
no when i sold one i buy one back my total of cars was always 3 or 4
i always had 2 cars in my street and 1 or 2 on a property of my uncle
and on my uncle's property i always work on my cars too i do everything myself
and what i dont know my uncle repairs for me doing it yourself gives a big advantage
i was a verry young boy my uncle teach me how to work on mercedes and my father had a W116 too
he buyed his one new in 1973 so the first car i ever saw was a W116
